Rexly watched the gameplay demo of Hitman: Absolution at E3, but he's not convinced that the newest game in the series will impress fans of the series.
When Hitman 3 recently changed its name to Hitman World of Assassination, fans had no idea how meaningful the moment was. On the outside it looked like a simple thing: Hitman 3 would now be known by this name and include levels from Hitman 2 and 3 - the trilogy would all be in one place. But on the inside, at IO Interactive, much more was going on.
You mean destroyed it with this tethered single-player campaign BS... And only the first few levels of the third modern game were on the disc! I'll never support this crap at any price-point! They've lost me as a customer.
The last 10 years of Hitman have been full of highs and lows. And David Bateson and Jane Perry have been there with the series through this eventful decade.
Hitman is, and has been, a remarkable series developed by some of the best. Some are better than others, but every Hitman is challenging and fun.
Sure, there have been some stumbles and fumbles, but always in pursuit of the perfect Hitman game. The most recent trilogy is a masterclass in level design.

How are there shortcomings when no one's played the game in-full yet?
It is the lay of the land now to create a simple interactive experience, in which u have superficial choice and as easy a route as possible. Now, I dont know if this is true with hitman but it wouldn't surprise me at all. Gone are the days of exploring and searching for the answer, of making mistakes and trying again. Its good that games like dark souls and dragons dogma exist. They may not b perfect but their first priority is game play and the satisfaction gained from accomplishment. I just try and support those games as much as possible. Unfortunately, these aspects are never covered in reviews unless its mentioned as an annoyance. For example, everyone hates that there's no fast travel in dragons dogma. Now that I have played it, I am glad there isn't. I am realizing how much fast travel eliminates exploration and adventure as well as strategy and time management. But, I guess it comes down to the core issue of today, attention. Young gamers today have never experienced the early days of challenging game play etc. And they don't want to. You have a brief moment to keep their attention. If u lose it, u lose them. Here's to hoping that Whitman doesn't streamline too much. I hate to think how awesome mass effect could have truly been as and old school RPG.
I don't mind having stuff like auto aim and stuff like that, what I really want is the option to turn it off, and real difficulty like dark souls... Otherwise I have faith in io based on their past
