How 'Dark Souls' Changes The Meaning of Replay Value

A few Black Knights stand between my blade and Gwyn, Lord of Cinders. They should be dispatched easily enough. My warrior is a tank, weighed down in mossy Stone Armor, wielding a Black Knight Halberd +5, and well-shielded behind Havel’s Shield +3. One-handed attacks should fell these knights in three or four hits, and if I keep my shield up they won’t do more than a scratch of damage. My character has been built primarily around Strength, at the expense of many other stats, and I’m starting to feel my lack of Stamina.

TopDudeMan4372d ago (Edited 4372d ago )

I started with a hunter, which was really really really hard.

Then I really enjoyed going back and making a sephiroth build in my second.

Then I did a sorcerer, which was a little too easy after you got the homing soulmass.

And then after that I ran through the game all the way to the four kings without levelling up much to make a character with a lightning cestus at level 13 to troll noobs with at undead parish. I try to make it fairer by not wearing any chest or head armour, but no one expects me to do so much damage in one hit. Noobs aren't careful enough.

I know, I'm THAT guy.

demon souls and dark souls are games that challenge you . games need to be challenge .thank you (from software ) for the monster hunter feeling in the souls series plus the amazing art graphics in the game these games are for the strong at heart not for the weak

ShadowKingx4372d ago

Dark souls and Demon souls is not the game you can just play for 7 hours and your done, you actually play for than 40 hours + and then some, Dark souls and Demon souls are the RPGs that other RPGs developers need to learn from and even though Dark souls developers said that there would be no DLC and now there putting DLC because they know we want it and the DLC will be bought without question. Because players who have played and still playing dark souls know that the DLC will add 40+ more hours of gameplay which is what DLC should do for RPGs.

Nevers4372d ago

I bought it day one and I am still playing Dark Souls. It's an addiction.

It was one of the few things that finally pulled me out of the claw-like grip FFxi (yes, the old-ass MMO) had on me.

I bought Skyrim when it came out and cuz I'm still too obsessed with Dark Souls I haven't finished it.. and I was riciculously obsessed with both Morrowind and Oblivion.

I just had a birthday where I recieved AssCreed Brotherhood, Amalur, Witcher 2, and Arkham City. I've played each for an hour or two... but then the obsession kicked in and I'm back to playing Dark Souls. I really tried to stop... I failed.

I wanted to get back into Demon's Souls... nope... too obsessed with Dark... ugh. Such a great game.

Hidetaka Miyazaki Wants To Work On His Debut Franchise After Elden Ring DLC

Hidetaka Miyazaki appeared in an interview to discuss the future of the Elden Ring DLC and FromSoftware's future plans.

Cacabunga1d 7h ago

I hope Bluepoint are working on BB remake..
Sony now seem to have lost it with all the gaas, i have no hope in seeing them approaching FS to make a sequel. I hope gamers will push Sony and show continuous disapproval to the gaas model

Cacabunga1d 7h ago

U probably right about the remake it is maybe too early. A performance mode would be more welcome at this point

fsfsxii1d 5h ago

can we get new ideas instead of remakes? gamers are the most nostalgia driven on this earth istg

Redgrave23h ago

The problem with new ideas is that they are often riddled with modern gaming problems like battle/season passes, MTX, DEI and/or agenda pushing narratives rather than making something fun.

We look to nostalgia because the magic was still alive and well, where as now it's often limited to indies.

Chard1d 5h ago

Look at how Bluepoint changed the art for demons souls. I wouldn’t want them doing that for Bloodborne

anast1d 1h ago

Compare their releases. How many are GaaS and how many are not. Put the number here for people to see.

gold_drake23h ago

what gaas are we talking? did i miss something?

I don’t know how to feel, Armored Core just isn’t as good as Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Bloodborne and the like.

I hope he does a new IP instead

FinalFantasyFanatic21h ago

I love the Armored Core series, I hope it becomes a regular thing again, like it was back in the PS2 days, we've been starved of AC games for a long time. Although I prefer the gameplay in the PS2 games personally. AC6 was really fun though.

Sonic188121h ago(Edited 21h ago)

The last game was a difficult challenge. I had trouble beating that last boss

shinoff218318h ago

I'm hoping for a Sci fi game. I guess armored core would be Sci fi but I'm not talking about that. I'd like a new Sci fi game

Nacho_Z1d 5h ago

Fortunately, if you're not interested in the AC series, he doesn't say he plans to drop everything to work exclusively on the next one, as implied by the article header. Just general comments about it being an important series he wants to be involved with at some point.

gold_drake23h ago

oofff kings field. i played that not too long ago ha.

shinoff218318h ago

One ofbthe first ps games I beat back in the day. Was fun.

anast1d 1h ago

Good news. I can't wait to see what he comes up with.

I’m Glad Atlus & SE Changed Dates To Avoid Competing With Shadow Of The Erdtree

Saad from eXputer: "I'm glad I don't have to choose between Square Enix, Atlus, and FromSoftware due to bad release windows and Shadow of the Erdtree."

H931d ago

More intelligent than guerilla games

raWfodog30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Atlus is releasing their game one week before Erdtree, SE is releasing theirs one week after.

HZD released four days before Zelda, HFW released one week before Elden Ring.

It seems to me like they are still releasing their games too close to Erdtree.

VincentVanBro29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

What a word vomit, rambling, turd of an article that simply states the obvious. Classic exputer.
