Splinter Cell Blacklist - First Gameplay Demo

In this video, Creative Director Maxime Béland introduces the first gameplay video for Splinter Cell Blacklist. Sam inflitrates a camp near the Iran/Iraq border, where Fourth Echelon has located a terrorist leader.

Splinter Cell Blacklist will be released in Spring 2013 on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

NYC_Gamer4344d ago

They should have called it Conviction 2

Hoje03084344d ago

The first few moments of gameplay had me thinking it might be a return to the Splinter Cell we all know and love. Then I saw a series of quick time events that seemed too easily earned. Maybe there will be a difficulty level that reduces the amount of executions the player earns per kill, or a classic mode for veterans of the series. If neither of those happens, I'll just keep playing Chaos Theory.

aCasualGamer4344d ago

Okey?! Why are they using the Kurdish flag as a symbol for terrorists?! If anything Kurdistan stands for everything contrary to terrorists and terrorism. I am a Kurd and sad to say offended by this. Our people have endured enough, we don't need to be portrayed as terrorists.

Still cool to see the flag in a videogame though, wished it was in a different meaning but still. They should've done more research rather than going with the "all the countries in the middle east are terrorist countries".

Amazingmrbrock4344d ago

Does anyone else think this story line sounds less thrilling and more really disturbing.

Countries say they more or less want peace with US who won't leave them alone. They make some threats as their only option. America gives one man a license to kill and sends him out to slaughter the leaders that wanted troops out of their countries.

Wtf, it just sounds kinda almost too close to current events and what the states is actually doing.

I suppose if they mean it as sort of awareness thing it could be good but it sounds pro military occupation.

Amazingmrbrock@

I agree, they should just stay away from politics altogether if they are going to be partial. It's not fair for the middle eastern ubisoft fans who have to endure their favorite games being about killing their own people who are being portrayed as terrorists. If they used a fictional terrorist group with no real life identity then it would be okay, but using a Kurdish flag is like brainwashing everyone that plays the game into thinking the Kurds are nothing but terrorists. Heck, i was really hoping my country would get to be in a videogame but now i'm starting to regret that.

I hope the story changes, so that the Kurdish flag won't be synonymous with terrorism.

I really like the gamplay mechanics though, it seems they have implemented the assassin's creed climbing system into the gameplay. Looks absolutely stunning!

Hoje03084344d ago (Edited 4344d ago )

Why does that matter? I like good games, regardless of console. For instance, I've never owned a Microsoft console or been a fan of Halo, but the Halo 4 footage shown at Microsoft's conference blew me away. If I had more free time I would buy a 360 to play that game. I like to be entertained and couldn't care less whose stock value I'm padding with my purchase.
P.S. Check out the Tomb Raider footage for a multiplatform game that looks stunning.

IC3_DEMON4344d ago

Don't know bout aou guys but it looked very fast paced for a stealth game

LOGICWINS4344d ago

Who said this one going to be a stealth game? Its clearly a hybrid.

redDevil874344d ago

They should just make a new IP then.

A majority of people want Splinter Cell to be pure stealth.

LOGICWINS4344d ago (Edited 4344d ago )

The majority? I hear that word thrown around a lot on N4G. First from the old school Resident Evil fans, then the old school Max Payne fans, now the old school Splinter Cell fans.

How do you know what the majority wants? Have u met EVERY Splinter Cell fan and asked them what their preferences are? In case you haven't realized...the world doesn't revolve around you.

WrAiTh Sp3cTr34344d ago

"Who said this one going to be a stealth game?"

What kind of question is that? Here's a better one, "When has Splinter Cell not bee a stealth game?"...

LOGICWINS4344d ago

Wraith, clearly uve never played Conviction..it was a hybrid of action and stealth.

pwnmaster30004344d ago

Yes logic and alot of people were disappointed at it. Not only here on n4g but alot of site.
Its like epic turning gears of war into a stealth game
People will get piss.
Why would devs diss the fans

Splinter Cell is no longer about stealth but more action based combat......It's sad for many of us old school SC fans....

AgreeFairy4344d ago

It's called Blacklist cause after how bad Conviction was everyone has already blacklisted the franchise. Splinter Cell is dead.

scotchmouth4344d ago

Agreed. I'll be playing this as long as I can invert axis

TCG_Returns4344d ago

You had to reach pretty far to pull that pun together, but it worked in the end.Passed on conviction cause i dont game on 360 anymore, but i might check this one out.

Lord_Sloth4343d ago

Conviction was indeed a fun title, but it wasn't a good Splinter Cell title.

andron4344d ago (Edited 4344d ago )

Getting bored with middle east terrorists games. Ironic that French Ubisoft makes some of the most American army glorifying games there is...

360GamerFG4344d ago

This is being made by a Canadian branch though. . .

andron4344d ago

Ok and they are mostly part of the Tom Clancy brand so that also explains it, but still a bit funny I think...

allyc4t4344d ago

No Michael Ironside, no buy.

MattyG4344d ago

Yeah I know! what the hell?!

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - A Decade in the Shadows

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell has been out of action for a decade, so it's time to look back at 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

CoNn3rB249d ago

Sam Fisher is evidently the most skilled stealth operative because no-one has seen him in his own game for years

kevco33249d ago

10 years, in fact. He must be, like, 60 by now?

phoenixwing248d ago (Edited 248d ago )

why make an inspired game that takes effort when you can half ass it with multiplayer gaas games and filler filled assassins creed games?

That question up there is the reason you don't see splinter cell games

zarbor248d ago

Yup, another example that Ubisoft has no idea what they are doing.

MIDGETonSTILTS17248d ago

The entire mark and execute system belonged in another game.

It’s cool, but the polar opposite to how Sam Fisher initially handled.

The original trilogy made shooting very, very difficult, yet a viable option, which ultimately motivates stealth.

The mark/execute system makes shooting stupid easy, to the point of why would you even bother trying stealth as an alternative?

FYouDad248d ago

Because Ghost is the method fans of the series actually prefer? IMark and execute is never forced upon the player you liiterally never have to bother using it even once throughout Blacklist.

Tody_ZA248d ago

The sad part is that I actually really enjoyed the last game, Blacklist. It may have lacked the iconic voice but the gameplay was excellent, and blended stealth, action and a mix really great compared to most games, where none of the three options felt like the wrong way to play. I really hope they either produce a remake of the original game or a proper sequel.

Rikimaru-00248d ago

Isn't UBI Soft remaking splinter cell.

Sam Fisher Deserves Better

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "Ubisoft, we need to chat. Please, have a seat. Thanks. Ok, so I think you know why you’re here. No it has nothing to do with all those game delays, we’ll talk about that later. What? No it’s not about the Skulls & Bones and Beyond Good & Evil 2 falling off the face of the Earth, just listen. We need to talk about Splinter Cell. Don’t give me that look, you know this conversation needs to happen. The way you’ve treated the series, its fans and poor Sam Fisher himself is sad, infuriating and just plain disappointing and it needs to stop."

The Fish!!!

I'd love to see a remastered edition of those games as well as something new. It's about time.

UltraNova1488d ago

MGS is done, at least as we know it so it's now or never Ubi, give Fisher the reboot it deserves. And for Gods sake, don't you dare turn Splinter Cell into another Division/Ghost reckon online abomination instead of a SP focused steath action game!

Psychonaut851488d ago

You know they will though. This is Ubisoft we’re talking about

zachyBROosevelt1488d ago (Edited 1488d ago )

I would love a new splinter cell, maybe even a reboot at this point. Sam Fisher deserves it

Profchaos1488d ago

I think reboot the entire franchise the games were great but every time they try to make him human like a father or something it comes of as unbelievable

hiawa231488d ago

They added damn near every SC game to Xbox1X back compat enahnced list. That is a lot of Sam enhanced and I am loving it, but Sam deserves a new next gen game.
