PlayStation Beats Personal Computer

An extensive survey of over 30,000 votes were cast by the UK's largest men's lifestyle website, AskMen.com, to find just what are the most important innovations in the modern world.

The overall winner was, unsurprisingly, the Internet. Invented by British computer scientist Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the Internet transmitted it's first successful communication in 1990.

That logo was like a promise of amazing games ever since the PS1 came out...

The Internet was created in the United States by UCLA Professor Leonard Kleinrock and the DARPA department (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) back in the 1960's to help quickly and securely share data from Government research projects.

At first it was called the ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network) which later on down the road became the "Internet" once a commercial version was released.

1990 Sir Tim Berners-Lee came up with the World Wide Web (WWW.) as a more sound way to manage the Internet's information data base by creating the Hyper Text Termination protocols (HTTP)

Sir Tim Birners-Lee didn't create the Internet he just made managing the Info better. DARPA and Leonard Kleinrock created the Internet by inventing the Packet Switching Network.....The Internet!!

any PC Geek knows this!

P.S. Al Gore didn't invent the Internet either.

P.S.S Yes Metal Gear Solid Fans "DARPA" is REAL and now so are Zombies!!

who are the Pa- La Li Lu Le Lo!

TekoIie4364d ago

yeh but the zombies dead... Thank god though on a serious note :/

Shikoro4364d ago

HTTP stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol, not Termination Protocol. Just saying...

Denethor_II4364d ago

Sir Tim 'BERNERS' (not Birners) invented the World Wide Web, or as you put it 'just managed it better lol, and the Hypertext 'TRANSFER' Protocol (not termination). What you and I are using to type these messages was thanks to Sir Tim Berners.
No need to be so bum hurt about it:)

nveenio4363d ago

Yeah, this is an argument over semantics. It's like saying cavemen invented cars because they invented wheels. Ford only put them to better use. We could even say that Bell invented the Internet because he invented phones, and we used those first. Or was it the telegraph guy that invented the Internet because he came up with sending information over a wire?

See how stupid we can get?

The title sounds like a Rock, Paper, Scissors hybrid.

Those 360 fanboys must've been here

DivineAssault 4364d ago

yup.. They hate the truth that PlayStation rules! They hate that 360 has no new IPs & they have to pay annually to play shooters.. They hate that theyre not getting Last of Us, God of War, FFXV, & many MANY more great games.. They hate that E3 this year will be no different for them as they last 6 years except with more aliens & guns games with a useless camera

YodaCracker4363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

What does the original PlayStation have to do with "360 fanboys"? I'm sure a lot of current-day 360 fanboys gamed on the PlayStation, even the PS2. It was the original PlayStation, which deserves this recognition, that people voted for, not the PS3 (obviously). How can you possibly turn this into another 360 vs. PS3 console war?

TheLyonKing4364d ago

Well done to sony.

Things like life - which contributes the ps3 extra processing power to help cure diseases is truly amazing.
Games and multimedia functionality really makes the ps3 a great peice of hardware for the house but before the ps3 the ps1 and 2 were a sign of amazing quality and games and defined the 90's and early 2000's and where gaming was going.

1Victor4364d ago

Oh wow that was unexpected but well received and deserved.now I wonder what the results would be for a world wide survey by maybe men health magazine

Ducky4364d ago

... and they were both beaten by Twitter which was voted as #2 overall.

They should be worried. They we told they were free to be creative to dev. a walking sim, and now Phil and the Lady are walking that back.

solideagle48m ago

let's look at the other side of the coin. why did HellBlade 2 which is a short game took more than half a decade to develop? If a game is taking millions upon millions to make then expectations will grow and when those expectations fail to meet then decisions are made.

I am not defending MS here, above is just my humble opinion.

They should have stayed independent and should have never gotten involved with MICROSOFT

Einhander197233m ago

Everything they bought is at risk, Game Pass is NEVER going to be able to support all the development for these studios while also maintaining any kind of catalog of new games.

If it wasn't supporting itself before they bought all these studios it's obviously not going to be able to support even more.

Hofstaderman29m ago(Edited 29m ago)

Pretty apparent they next on the cutting block. Hellblade 2 is a week out and the only noise from XBOX marketing is akin to a fart. Not even a loud pants-ripping fart....but a shameful supressed one.

RNTody9m ago

There's no way Ninja Theory stays in business after Hellblade 2.

It's a digital only release, it's been in development for over five years, and it's a Game Pass Day One, which means it's not going to blow any sales charts apart. That's already taking into account that Ninja Theory don't make games that sell multiple millions, they cater to a niche audience.

Ninja Theory has been around for a very long time and they've served their audience well, DmC aside, but I'm betting on them closing or being absorbed soon.
