WWE ’13 Officially Announced, Attitude Era Theme Confirmed

On an episode of WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night Raw, WWE Champion CM Punk has officially announced WWE ’13.

lol who cares if you can see his eyes? It's done for artistic effect. They probably shouldn't put just one wrestler on the front expecting them to be the posterboy for the entire game, it's not exactly a one-man show they're running at WWE. It seems more and more they're trying to be like every other sports title, with just one person on the cover, the year the game is released being in the title, and small incremental changes each year that do nothing to fix underlying issues. It must be great having a monopoly on a license the same way Madden does with the NFL, no innovation necessary, and the hardcore fans will buy it in droves.

They show the ring being destroyed from a mark henry and big show suplex from the top of the corner! also it is going back to the attittude era. I say it was a little not fair.John Laurinaitis should've at least been on the cover this year.I feel a little bad for him.He was not even featured in the game last year.There is only 1 way to make up for him not being on the cover.Let him be playable.Curse Ledesma he should've at least put him on the cover.If Ledesma is listening I'd like to tell him this,put Laurenaitis on a cover for it called People Power edition.Now!

WWE 12 wasn't awesome. Having an Attitude Era theme is just a marketing ploy. It's going to be pretty much the same engine with the same graphics. Also, having an Attitude Era theme really says a lot for the state of the company at the minute. Whilst I personally think it's got somewhat better in recent times, overall it lacks the pure entertainment value that it had during Attitude, ironically before it had Entertainment in the name.

You won't be able to play as the Hardy Boyz nor the Dudley Boys. Jeff Hardy is with another wrestling company, and so are the Dudley Boyz.

D-Generation X (with the New Age Outlaws) will be in the game, though.

so... the wwe has had hogan and flair appear in games while they were in tna. wwe does whatever they want, and they have the rights to do it. TNA cant even call them the dudleyz

You can play kane with the mask in wwe all stars...as far as past wrestlers that are elsewhere, they can easily include their "build" in create a wrestler mode. They've done it before so why leave it out now? The last game i bought in that series was wwe '09 so anything that is a drastic change from that will be welcomed.

I use to love playing No Mercy - thought it was the best ever, but then I played it about a year ago and absolutely hated it. Same as Goldeneye. Loved it originally, played it again and hated it. I'm spoiled to all the advances in video games.

Imagine how advanced that No mercy engine would be today, when Def Jam came out it was a lot smoother and faster, In videogames it seems that money can stand in between advancement

Depends on preference...I actually preferred the No Mercy engine in Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 better than in No Mercy (much better pace, fighting, etc.)

I'm with THamm, I'd love to see how that engine would perform today with a boost in quality and tech.

I just hope they have settings to make the game a proper simulation if you want. With weight/size determining whether or not a wrestler can do a move to another (Mysterio shouldn't be able to pick up the Big Show). Wrestlers staying down a lot long after taking damage, Refs Staying down a lot long when they're knocked down. Maybe give stables a bigger role, like the ability to call allies to the ring using the D-Pad.

Some 'new' games modes would be nice too, e.g special referee matches. Oh and please let them get royal rumbles right for a change, its dumb as hell when they state the rules before the match, but you can still be eliminated when going under the bottom or through the middle rope.

Excellent suggestions, I agree with them all...especially weight-class restrictions. It annoys the heck out of me when I see a little guy pick up a big fat guy and toss him over his head. Ridiculous.

Its just going to be the same game with the exact same canned animations from 10 years ago. The gameplay is so boring in this series, it's basically lived off of create a wrestler and the addictiveness of community creations (when it works).

those new features do seem promising; i would like to see them integrate the game with current wwe news and happenings kind of the way the nba and nfl games do. maybe have a ticker of what's happening/happened during monday night raw or smackdown.

if someone gets suspended, let it be reflected in the game. take a current tv storyline and let us play it out in the game with a few "twists" and perhaps give the actual wwe ideas of what the fans really want in their shows...now THAT would be a truly interactive game...sure this would seem a little far fetched but if they did anything close to this then it would be a giant leap forward, not just for the wwe but for gaming in general.
