Funny how they fail to mention what kind of internet connection this is running on.

JeffGrubb4359d ago

Do you think they need to mention this won't work on dial-up?

As long as you can run Netflix, you can use OnLive or Gaikai.

kmanmx4358d ago

You only need 10Mb for a great quality HD session on OnLive or Gaikai. Even 5mb works decent.

I appreciate many people myself included can't even get those speeds, but that will change in a few years.

I think this is the perfect time for such tech to come to market, just when we are entering the stage where it is becoming more and more feasible for an ever increasing amount of people.

ChronoJoe4358d ago

Funny how he can't aim for shit because of the input lag.

He aims at something then his responses before correcting his aim are delayed. It's not just he's bad at the game, he can't play it on that connection. Literally.

On some portions of the video he's trying to shoot a mech to the right and he's shooting the damn floor.

specialguest4358d ago

Input lag is a huge hurdle I'm not sure they'll ever fully overcome. Some games just can't be played competitively when there's even the slightest input lag.

@ the 6:18 mark someone Yells "Consoles Rule" and Jen-Hsun pauses and responds "It's OVER"!! The PC crowd applauds and Jen releases a Glorious Master Race laugh in a tone of Elitism and ALL KNOWING!!

I love it!!! (although he was really talking about the incredible Hawken Demo ending but i like to joke)

Anyway with Nvidia on board and a list of MAJOR players building Server Centers Nationwide and WORLDWIDE, CLoud Gaming is real and here to stay!

Don't worry cause by this time Next year Nvidia will have it perfected like they always do and with CISCO onboard you can pretty much say Goodbye to the latency issues cause we already know that the TECH is there.

Example
CISCO and others allow the U.S. Military to control Drones WORLDWIDE by video with almost NO LAG so I'm sure this technology will trickle down to Consumer Level soon.

Only issue right now is that everyone is gonna have a different service for different games even though the Cloud allows it to play on anything some company is gonna screw it up with Exclusive rights!!

LG Samsung and Sony are already stuffing Cloud support into their New TV's. Microsoft and everyone else (if they pay MS) has the PC at it's disposal and we will see more cloud gaming at Hotels and stuff. I see Apple jumping into Cloud gaming in a Big way through STEAM!!!

Cloud is great for Demos but it's really great for DRM and Killing Used games!!

Nvidia always pushing hardware/features forward

floetry1014358d ago

Looking at the disagrees, people can be INCREDIBLY short-sighted when it comes to cloud gaming. Whether you like it or not, it's an evolutionary concept. It'll still take years to refine and perfect, but it also allows access to games that many can't afford to play on monolithic PC rigs, hence why Sony are rumoured to get on-board with the idea.

GamingPerson4358d ago

But if sony is does this do you think they will not spread their service all over the internet? Seeing how I could play uncharted in a web browser?

Where Do Games Go When They Die?

As we trend ever deeper into a world of games that require servers maintained by the developer or publisher, we see more and more games disappearing from the world. What happens when these games are shut down? What does it take for a game to survive beyond this point?

Alamogordo, New Mexico "RIP E.T."

ApocalypseShadow1675d ago

I was going to say that. Lol!

Actually, "Just ask Atari where ET is."

But basically the same joke.

vikingland11673d ago

It depends on how good they are :-)

Profchaos1673d ago (Edited 1673d ago )

Most modern games that have online components like destiny rely so heavily on co op between players that even if you had a full disc version popping it in and playing won't be a fun experience as you can't play the actual game after hitting a wall with difficulty levels of they even boot

But classic titles like vice city will still be the same in 2049 as they were in 2001 provided you play on a disc not stripped down digital versions that have the soundtrack cut out ten years later

Traecy1673d ago

They don't die, they just become irrelevant. Multiplayer games are another story.

I didn't even realize this game was removed from my Steam library. Bummer.

gangsta_red2309d ago

The game was a UI mess and when I actually played it was an even bigger mess

Blu3_Berry2309d ago

This is exactly why only online multiplayer games won't last very long. It's important to have a single player campaign (a good one, not a throw-away trash story) or some kind of offline multiplayer mode.

sampsonon2309d ago

it's doing well on console mostly because xbox gamers haven't had a good game for a few years.

DialgaMarine2309d ago

I’ve played some great MP-only titles, so needing a SP isn’t really an issue, so much as it’s the developers needing to make the game good and offer content to keep people coming back.

Blu3_Berry2309d ago

Hmmm, I think you hit the nail on the head right there.

Elit3Nick2309d ago

When it's fighting Mechwarrior Online, another PVP mech game from a franchise with an established fan-base, it couldn't really compete. While MWO does have its issues, it has solid combat with a very generous F2P model, unlike Hawken, which forced you to use a starter mech and then buy every other one.

NotanotherReboot2309d ago (Edited 2309d ago )

PUBG does not need a sp campaign. Never let me catch you speaking such rot again.

Vegamyster2309d ago (Edited 2309d ago )

Hawken was never a very popular game, i think its peak concurrent user count was a little over 8k. There is plenty of other popular old MP games, heck the original Counter Strike has a pretty large user base lol.
