ZD writes: ZD writes: Journey is beautiful. The music and visuals are both emotionally affecting in their own right to a degree that few games these days are. As I returned for repeat Journeys with new companions multiple times, I began to realize that this purity of experience was something at which the Zelda series used to excel. In the original Legend of Zelda, you’re dropped into a world, handed a sword (after all, it’s dangerous to go alone), and let loose. You can explore the world or dive into the main quest and traverse the labyrinths. You can learn as much of the story as you choose, or as little. It’s an experience motivated entirely by the sense of exploration.
Modern Zelda titles have moved away from that, offering an (admittedly excellent) enveloping story that takes center stage, and often leaving exploration in the background. I realized then that the Zelda series has a lot to learn — or, rather, relearn — from Journey.
Screen Rant, "The return of one controversial character could have an incredible effect on The Legend of Zelda, prompting the introduction of new features."
Honestly I really changed my mind on Fi with the remaster because they didn't make her interrupt your gameplay every 5 seconds, that drastically changed my views on her
Technically she's in ToTK but obviously can't take any other form than the sword she was made into. Also the companion feature has been done plenty of times in Zelda, I don't think it'll add anything new. If anything should be brought back it should be the Minish.
Matt from We Game Daily writes "The Legend of Zelda series has gone in a different direction. One which, try as I have, I just can’t get on board with. Here is why I think Zelda should return to its 3D roots."
Amen! A good, tight, Zelda game with a focus on dungeons and puzzles. Let people have the new style Zelda if you gotta, but let us have the OoT style games too. That's not without precedent either, the handheld 2D Zelda's in the style of A Link to the Past etc have coexisted alongside the 3D Zelda's before
Wind Waker had a perfect balance of open world and a cool, well hand-crafted design. Maybe try to keep the open world but put in effort to make more memorable story driven quests and locations.
A fan of The Legend of Zelda has recreated the iconic Japanese monster Godzilla in Tears of the Kingdom using the game's Zonai devices.
I like it would also be cool if some created Dragon Caesar in the game I would love to watch the two going at it.
Very interesting article that sums up my thoughts exactly. Exploration (along with imagination) is to me the best storyteller. Journey is such a fascinating experience, I could never get bored of it.
love this game. wish it was longer because it was soooo good. a full lenght journey for 55 60 euro i would buy day one. i hope the last guardian will give me the same feeling that journey gave me.
zelda really should have learned from "shadow of the colossus"
Zelda games can't release without journalists treating it like the holy grail, but Zelda has gotten stale and is forgetting what makes the series so great.
As a true all time fan of Zelda it pains me to say that i've lost interest in the franchise quite a bit. Each Zelda game is polished but the changes to formula just don't sit right with me. I remember when Zelda felt efortlessly magical and while this is still the case, you end up not caring for this aspect and it comes off feeling like a game- Zelda games should feel an experience. The more linear nature is as if Nintendo doesn't want to piss potential new fans and it's driven a lot of fans away
Perhaps Skyward is all they say of it but i don't see many fans defending the game
