G4TV is officially out of ideas

With their latest brilliant decision to "re-air" old shows such as Filter, Judgment Day, Arena, Portal, Cheat and Cinematech, G4TV looks to have simply given up on putting quality gaming programs on TV. Sarcastic Gamer has seen enough.

From the article: "G4 needs more original content that is focused on videogames, but this latest idea seems like a haphazard way to do it. If the network does add more videogame programming, they need to make sure they don't saturate the lineup with a 12-hour block of one or two shows. G4 also needs to ensure they only add high-quality programming. In other words, no more Arena. However, based on the six hours of coverage given to the Halo 3 launch, I don't have much faith in G4's ability to come up with quality videogame programming."

But every once in awhile arena used guilty gear and soul calibur for the fighting game fix.

Of course, not as much as stuff like unreal tournament. But hey they had fighters a tiny bit at least lol

G4TV was a waste of time for me the moment they stopped releasing awesome shows like Icons. I don't mean the j@ckoff celebrity gossip show, I mean the original one where they showcased people and products that helped shape the industry. Since they went all game and no tech I've stopped watching it altogether. Hmm...I wonder if Cops is on....

Does anyone know what G4 stands for? Games, Gear, Gadgets and gigabytes.

It is not just "Gamer TV" If anything they should highlight more of the "Geek" world in all forms, Comics, Movies, Games, Girls, Sweet toys, PC/Console Gaming and all that kind of stuff. I wouldn't turn it off. However with "Cheaters" and "Cops" running all day long it gets old. Now depending on their definition of "Games" that could go a long way. I mean Ninja Warrior and Banzuke are "Games" sort of. Competitive and entertaining. Plus they can be very biased a lot of the time and that gets old too. I wish they had 1 hardcore PS3 fanboy and one Hardcore 360 fanboy and those who openly admit it and they force eachother to play the others console then host G4. Instead they have non stop Halo tourney's and 360 contests and leader board showing only 360 stuff... They try to seem unbiased by mentioning MGS and LBP every once in a while but it doesn't help...

11 - Never Realized G4TV was good to begin with...

Sorry, but this show has sucked and has always sucked. The two hosts (bald guy and the tall girl) are retarded and were obviously chosen because they are good in front of a camera. The bald guy has a raspy voice that you won't forget (perfect for TV) and the girl is...well she's a hot looking chick (that's more than enough for TV). Neither of them know anything about games. I think I watched a total of 2 shows when they first launched and after seeing them criticize games because they thought the outfit choice wasn't modern enough... I completely stopped watching this show.

And two out of three of those you can footage of on their website, as well as on iTunes. In fact, both the X-Play and AotS podcasts are pretty high on the most popular in iTunes.

I cant believe anyone still watches G4, it used to be great but then got dumbed down. Is all s**t now. They need to bring back some of the real tallent and get back to serious tech stuff, the origional attack of the show was great!, it evolved from Call for help and screen savers, I think they should all be back as 3 shows. AOTS used to be about games, Pc and tech, alot of good info and how to, Remember the UGM, ultamate gaming machine they would build every once in a while? that was awsome. Now its all gossip, stupid jokes. (lets watch the female host eat a hot dog, hahahah, lets have hosts talking about tech that dont know what they are talking about, but rather read off of a prompter, The show sucks balls now. G4 used to be my favorite station now I avoid it all together.) I watched it up to the point where they changed the AOTS format when Sarah left.)

I doubt that G4 is going to sink anytime soon. A lot of people watch the channel. A majority just don't happen to be gamers. Cops, even if you hate it is a smart choice. People like it.
Attack of the Show is good as is Xplay.

Really though, bring back tech tv. G4's hosts are so annoying and immature, they think their being funny but they're humor is juvenile and lowbrow.

They had a whole day dedicated to 4/20. Now that is what I call trying to hard to appeal to dumb@ss kids. Now don't get me wrong, I've smoked my fair share of weed, but kids these days are just a bunch of sheep. They don't know how to act cool on their own, they need weed. Just like how kids are the #1 consumer of energy drinks - sitting on your ass all day is exhausting. Kids are sheep, and they'll do anything if they think it will make them look cool. Even if it means chugging an energy drink that is the equivelant of drinking piss. When you have a TV station that caters to that kind of person you're in for some trouble.

I might be going off on a tangent here, but my point is that a TV channel is only as mature as its core demographic. G4's fans balls haven't dropped yet. The only show that comes close to holding my interest is X-Play, and thats because for all of Sessler's whining he can be insightful sometimes.

It's just sad because when they were TECHTV they were actually interesting.

I couldn't agree with you more. That 4/20 ep was a total waste of time. X-Play is alright and i do like ninja challenge but the rest....meh. Maybe a change of hosts and a more focused look at gaming and tech and i'll consider caring about it again.

Hit the nail on the head with that one. I used to like AOTS but that show has become complete crap in the last year (stupid skits they think are funny, etc), Xplay is the best tech-related show on G4, I like Banzuke though.
