Rumor: .Mac Update with iPhone 2.0 Release

TUAW reports that a 'little birdy' told them that .Mac is to be completely revamped and the new service is supposed to be released together with the iPhone 2.0 firmware.

The updated .Mac email service would offer full over-the-air syncing including calendars, contacts, and email and .Mac syncing on Windows.

1.1 - It will be free, DUH
The last .Mac update in August was completely free to all subscribers. Apple uses .Mac as a subscription based model. It's a membership fee of $100 a year which provides access to all .Mac features. They don't charge you for updates. You're paying for the membership. Its similar to XBOX Live in that sense. And, what do you mean "it is Apple"? The only updates they've ever charged for is the $20 for the iPod Touch and the $2 for Wireless N accessibility. Mac updates, always free. iPhone updates, always free. iPod Updates, always free with the exception of once.

So it's not free if you don't have .Mac access.
