Thompson criticises Buzz! for schools
18
US attorney Jack Thompson has criticised Buzz! The Schools Quiz, claiming teachers should concentrate on traditional teaching methods instead.
His comments were aired in British newspapers The Telegraph and The Daily Mail, which both questioned Sony's motives in selling the PS2 title to schools.
"Videogames have hurt far more people than they have helped," claimed Jack Thompson. "I don't see how they can be of any more benefit than normal teaching."
Educational psychologist Jane Healy agreed: "If you watch kids on a computer, most of them are just hitting keys or moving the mouse as fast as they can. It reminds me of rats running in a maze."

Finally, Jack ***hole Thompson revealed his agenda that he is against ALL games not just violent ones. Seriously, could this man go any lower?

I don't like how they said US attorney before Jack Thompson's name. It almost makes him look important. Just say lawyer Jack Thompson. Attorney doesn't really belong in his title. It's more for really good lawyers.

Agreed. Not only this makes him look more important which he isn't, it also sounds as if he is some kind of official or real person while in truth Jack is just Joke Of The Decade.

Yeah, let's go back to chalk and slate. Technology -- hell, the future as a whole -- is just evil.

Has anyone seen the new "white boards" which are full touch sensitive monitors here in the UK? they're amazing and much more useful for children than some poor quiz game.

So first JT was an "expert" on games and now he is so knowledgeable about the world that he is able to comment upon teaching systems around the world. As he can do this I am also now able to comment upon ambulance chasing shameless lawyers. Jack, shut up and stay quiet until you have something constructive to say that can be supported by real non discredited scientific research.
And that "educational pschologist" (how do you attain qualifications to become such an entirely not necessary job?) sounds quite useless TBH, I fail to see the difference between Buzz and the millions of books, DVDs and CDRoms sold every year under the guise of exam revision, not to mention the BBC Bitesize scheme.
A complete non story supported by stupidity, ignorance and the general desire among those mentioned to see there names in print.

Maybe if Jack was taught by that teaching method, he wouldn't be so stupid. He was taught traditionally and look how he turned out. Someone really needs to slap him, and if someone doesn't the day I graduate from high school, that summer I will personally give him a good slapping. :)

For an educational psychologist that b!tch is obvious as ignorant as they come. Their is undeniable evidence that information has a better chance of being retained in the form of something enjoyable or stimulating, which normal teaching does not accomplish that well.

I find this article to be extremely humorous. Jack Thompson's already dead, he just doesn't know it yet.

People have to understand that this „game“ was not made in order to replace the traditional teaching. It was made to support it. It creates a link between something maybe boring sometime and something that is perceived by the young minds as fun.
This what the game does (how can somebody see something negative?):
BUZZ! The Schools Quiz will use 5,000 unique questions based directly on all areas of the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum written and edited by SchoolZone.
The questions have been scripted into 4 levels of difficulty by teachers to match Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Key curriculum areas include:
• English: Adverbs, Alphabetical Order, Definitions, Nouns, Prepositions, Punctuation,
Spelling, Syllables and Tenses
• Maths: Approximation, Averages, Fractions and Probability, Mental Arithmetic,
Multiple and Factors, Negative Numbers, Number Comparison, Number Places,
Number Sequence and Time
• Science: Electronics and Electricity, Forces, Human Life, Light and Sound, Materials,
Plants, Sorting Living Things, the Environment and the Planets
• History: Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, the Romans, Tudor England, Victorian England,
Vikings and Anglo Saxons and World War II
• RE: Customs, Stories, Symbols
• Geography: Mountains, the Coastline, the World, Towns, Transport, Water and Weather
• Modern Foreign Languages: French and Spanish

12 - Buzz! Jack Thompson fails
There are educational games which are used in school and I personally believe Buzz can be catergorized under that genre to some extend.

The internet is wildly used for porn these days, so I recommend that all internet related teaching and or researching should henceforth be ban. We shall from this day forward use only books found in public libraries as they hold all necessary and current information, even if it does take more time and effort to access said information.
Also I believe that cars, trucks, planes, trains have caused the US to become overweight. As such all none human forms of transportation shall be banned.
