Japan 2007: Nintendo Dominates Top 10 Software Sales

January 11 - Nintendo claims eight of the top ten selling games of 2007 in Japan, looking at the latest figures from Enterbrain, publisher of the Famitsu magazine.

Only Capcom's PSP title Monster Hunter Portable 2 and Square Enix's Dragon Quest IV manage to break Nintendo's hold on the top ten.

I'd agree with you if Nintendo held the Top 10, but they only hold the Top 8 & the way things are going with Wii Fit they could easily take the Top 9 in 2008. Not sure why you bothered to mention MGS4 & GT5 because if you look at the games Japanese gamers are buying you'd realize these 2 titles will be lucky to break the Top 30.

sony fanboys pin their hopes on any silly thoughts.. gt5 is already out in japan and is a flop..just check the charts and mgs4 will not save you either.. cause it will have to compete with top titles from nintendo, square and capcom on the wii.. so get real

im going to see how long dmc4 ps3 stays on the charts to gauge what kinda of impact sony can make against the nintendo behemoth.

sony has a lot of big hitters 2008, but it wont mean jack if they have 1 game in the charts and 40 nintendo ones nipping at its heels every week.

that's pretty depressing. I own both a Wii and a DS, but most of those Nintendo titles don't deserve to be in the top ten by a long shot. That doesn't mean there aren't other Nintendo titles that do. like Metroid Prime 3, Galaxy, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, etc. but WII PLAY!? That game is horrible. I hope Japaneese gamers start buying actual games again.

Allthough some of the games on that list are good. Monster Hunter Portable 2, Dragon Quest IV, Pokemon D/P, and New Super Mario Bros are all pretty good games.

Wii Play is a bestseller because it's a cheap way to pick up an extra controller and game, particularly in regions that don't pack in Wii Sports. I don't really think it's fair to classify it as software, because 80% of its value is in the remote.

That being said I easily got $10 enjoyment out of the game. People's expectations are way too high. I mean, come on, it's $1.11 a game. What do you expect?

I couldnt care less how much X title has sold XXXXXXX copies it won't make the game better or worse it will have 0 impact so stop it no one cares but stupid fanboy who spit alwais the same bs.

Exactly devs and actionnaire care but why should we care about what they care about.

When X compagny is gonna give me something back for their suber attach rate or hardware sold then i will caring until then all their sales will only be something for fanboys to fight over and I wont start giving a flying poo about it.

Also by your stupid logic SoTC is a bad game yet alot of us agree it is by far one of the best game that has ever oome out.

Sales data is overhyped, but it is useful in predicting what consoles and games are likely to sell well in the future, which definitely impacts gamers. You say nobody cares, but that is false because these threads are the most heavily participated in on N4G, and you're no exception. Why do you continue to waste your time commenting on stories you don't care about? Let me summarize your commenting history:

I dont see the Nintendo train slowing down in Japan anytime soon. They dont care about Graphics at all. The Japanese like quick minigame/mobile games that you can play in spurts. MGS4 & GT4 will be on the charts for a while but those games will do much better in America. Nintendo has some big games coming out this year with Smash Bros, Wii fit already out and killin', No More Heroes, Mario Kart Online, and Monster Hunter 3. Nothing going to slow Nintendo down anytime soon.

Well to be honest to you its been 1 year ive been visiting this site and i havent posted nothing till like 3 days ago.

What i concluded is that its full of fanboys that spit out on every occasion attach rate and hardware and software numbers.

And its dumb and pathetic u gain nothing from that only big compagnies do and all they want is your money.

Who cares if a game sell wells or not that is exactly my point it doesn't impact gamers. Some great games like psychonauts have sold pathetic numbers to be ashamed off yet i like it more than the hole halo franchise and it is regarded as one of the best xbox game to have come out.

Only devs and actionnaire should get numbers of software and hardware shippements then we could all stop the stupid fanboy comment and it would allow us to focus on the more imortant thing games.

Lets take an example if you cant comprehend Zack and Wiki has sold pathetic numbers on the wii and Carnival games has sold extreme numbers.

So in your conclusion we should know that Carnival is a good game and Zack and Wiki is a bad game, plz do yourself the pleasure and go play them both then speak to me.

This site is populate with fanboys alwais arguying on numbers yet the persons that actually play the consoles do not care.

Ill end this discussion now but i could go on ill go play some ut3 right now.

I like both Zack and Wiki and Carnival Games, but your example details exactly why numbers are important. Zack and Wiki's poor sales make it harder for new games like it to get made--and that should interest and concern you. It has nothing to do with which games are "better".

That is the problem of the devs not our they shoulda done more marketing i mean 99% of people i know dont know what is Zack and Wiki and would never buy it.

But the point is ITS NOT OUR PROBLEM ITS THEIRS who cares what are the sales as long as i can play the game.
