WiiFit is NOT a game. It's unfun and useless. Wii Play and Brain Age look like Mass Effect and Uncharted compared to Wii Fit. The worse thing is how buggy and inaccurate the thing is.
Officially THE worst gaming related thing I've ever seen in my life.

I'm not afraid that mom and dad buy Wii and WiiFit.

I'm afraid that stupid top managers of gaming company decide to go Wii with an idea like their hard-core games are also sold well on the Wii. They are counting only numbers. Console sales numbers don't tell the truth like who bought the console and what kind of games are expected.

Many Japanese gaming company already moved to Wii/DS with those wrong idea and failed. I hope western gaming companies will not fail in the same way.

Hope it happens. With Famitsu's great score and GT5's incredible quality, hopefully GT5 crushes WiiFit and sends that piece of **** to car graveyard for totaled cars to use WiiFit for their exercise while gamers can play real games at home and go out of their homes to workout and exercise for free instead of paying money for an ugly scale (Rant over).

I can't help it. WiiFit is best seller and it was the worst and most unfun thing I ever tried so I can't help but to attack it.

GT5 should definitely make it to the top three slots in software sales and give PS3 hardware sales a nice boost next week lasting through the holidays.

As for Wii Fit, I still see it just as an excuse for obese kids to get a Wii from their parents. But as for actually using it to exercise, it would have been much more effective if they just go outside, rest their eyes, and take a walk or jog.

LO's 60k is a pretty strong debut for a 360 game in Japan. Hopefully Japanese buy more real games (GT5, LO,...) in the following weeks instead of those things that end with Fit in their names.

8.1 - The sad truth is...

.. most Japanese devs are still capitalizing on the PS2 and won't release big titles until GT 5P followed by White Knight Story and so on. The Japanese hardly touch Western games that are out there right now and are doing so well outside Japan. 2008 is looking much better.

The important thngs to keep in mind are: PS3 is selling well despite its high price and it's still destroying 'that other next-gen console' to the ground.

The reason is because MS purchases some good JRPGs in Japan, yet its users are unable to appreciate them. For instance, Eternal Sonata sold about the same as Folklore despite its greater production values.

12 - I don't understand what the big deal is...

I don't think Wii fit is going to destroy the game industry... there are people who might find Wii fit fun. Just because it doesn't cater to the hard core doesn't mean that it is a horrible game (or whatever u wanna call it). There are so many games out for the hardcore for this year and next year, and now all of a sudden one game is going to destroy the hardcore market.

If thats the case, then why aren't the "hardcore" gamers in Japan rushing out to buy the "hardcore" games in Japan. Maybe Wii fit provides a new experience that no one has experienced before that people want to try.

Keep in mind that a lot of companies are planning on using the Wii board for snow boarding or skateboarding games...

As gamers we shouldn't be narrow minded and shut ourselves off from new experiences... the game industry has to expand somehow.

If the industry caters to the hardcore only, there would be no growth in the industry. The industry is not going to forget about the hardcore... if you want proof, look at the amount of hardcore games came out on all systems, I'll agree that the PS3 and 360 has more than the Wii, but the total number of hardcore games dwarfs the casual games.

13 - It's a sad fact...

Japan is much more casual oriented than they used to be. Zelda, Metroid, and Mario have always been top sellers in Japan, yet this generation they came and went with more fanfare in the US than in Japan.

No More Heroes, which is an honest to goodness hardcore game, by one of the most respected developers in Japan, barely fizzled this time.

Brain Age, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Wii Play, Mario Party, Nintendogs and other similar casual games are all people in Japan are buying anymore.

Certain franchises always sell in Japan such as Pokemon, Dragon Quest, and Final Fantasy..but those are few and far in between anymore. Most of the sales for the more core games will probably be in other areas in the future.

There are some I think will sell well regardless, such as RE5, GT5, and SF4. Hopefully anyway.

Personally I am looking forward to Wii Fit, and all the impressions I have read of the finished product have been very positive. If it was real buggy and such MK, I'm sure by the time the retail release happened, all those have been worked out.

Good comment and facts. I personally hate WiiFit with passion but I do agree that most or all of it's bugs and problems (From GC and TGS) could be solved and it might be functional at least technically.

And failure of No More Heroes is beyond sad, specially with something WiiFit selling 150k. Where have all the hardcore gamers of Japan gone?

Wow there is so much hate on Wii Fit. I dont really understand everyones hate its not destroying the industry just showing how big the industry really is. All this is is a sign of growth something that has been constantly happening year in year out. It is another form of entertainment now so it has many degrees of differnt forms.

Not every movie that comes out is made with everyone in mind. They cater towards differnt crowds. Poeple dont cry because more money isnt spend on R rated films "hardcore movies". I dont understand why poeple attack this whole casual game sensation so much. Shows that the industry is a more legitimate form of entertainment.

Yes for a time being you might see a of companys try to make a buck on this market and that will take some resources away from your desired hardcore games, but poeple need to understand the industry as a hole is still in its early days. Expanding and ever growing as it is, this will in turn get even more money into the industry as more and more people try to capitalize.

In the end it is a multi billion dollar industry and thats what will attract people to pour money into it.

Your not elite, special or anything else. Your part of the industry a very large and ever expanding industry. Granted you like so many others have been there since the early years with support its not like you will be forgotten.

On Topic real quick some nice sales for nintendo and the psp. Ps3 seems to have shown there was an intial spike but it will now continue on at a decent pace with increses here and there for big releases. Either way its out of ever having again to be close to 360 sales again.

As to all those poeple that talked about when the ps3 had bigger sales then the wii for two-three weeks. Didnt last sorry wasnt the end all of the wii. Dont worry I do agree it will sell more then the wii, but its gonna be a week to week basis in japan this generation I beleive. Some weeks the wii takes and others the ps3.

If Wii-fit ends up selling 15 million copies or so, then I guess hardcore gamers could worry. But just because it's having a few good weeks surrounding it's hyped up launch? Nah... "Classic gamers" need to quit feeling and acting like the games they like are going to be taken from away just because games that they wouldn't even consider have a strong following. IMO, this is one of those situations where the only power your "Opponent" has is that which you give.
