3 - You can tell that Gears was part of the inspiration for U:DF

They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery. So Epic should be extremely proud when they get a chance to play Uncharted. Thing is since I started playing Uncharted I actually dusted off my Gears Disc and started playing that again as well for comparisons. Both games are exceptional.

As much as I want a new Jak and Dexter from Naughty Dog I couldn't be happier that they made Uncharted 1st. I haven't stopped playing the game since I picked it up a couple days ago. The game is brilliant but anyone that has played a Naughty Dog game before expects nothing less.

Now get on with a new J&D game Naughty Dog.

Ok. Why am I suprised that I already have 2 disagrees even though I praised both Uncharted and Gears? You would think I should know better than try to be middle of the road when it's the "US vs. THEM" mentality on here. Sorry "boys", and I do mean BOYS, I like to have options and I don't have an allegiance to a piece of hardware.

3.1 - I'm sure RE4 and kill.switch developers were flattered as well.

Although they don't get much credit for the shooting and cover mechanics.

Gears gets the credit for bringing the combo together and Uncharted tweaks it a bit more.

Any 3rd person shooter from here on that fails to do as well will get slammed severely for it and rightly so.

I'm interested in seeing how FPS's like KZ2 will handle it and hope Resistance 2 adds it in as well.

Boodybandit I sympathise with you.

I am really starting to hate this site, I know it have been said a hundred times but the fanboys on both sides have overun this place, unfortunately N4G is no longer a place for balanced sober comment, in fact even if I didn't post anything positive or negative about either format in this comment I bet I would still get disagrees. It's nuts!

For the record fanboys take a look at what this developer is saying. It is clear that the people who make the best games for consoles are not blinkered fanboys so why should you be. Having a preference is fine but the behaviour on this site is just insane.

Uncharted is the reason I'm buying a PS3 (can't friggin wait) just like Gears was the reason for my 360 last year...eat on that fanboys...thanks Naughty Dog and Epic (UT3, here I come!), you got me to buy a PS3 and 360...Epic can take credit for both consoles (NC!)...games first, consoles last...miss out all you want fanboys...LOL...so sad...

12 - I'm glad that they took inspiration from Gears

but were wise enough to fix its shortcomings, mainly that 4-way HUD that would pop up every time you were taking cover behind a wall or corner. I think Uncharted has faster pacing during its shootouts because of this (though it simply might be because I played Uncharted a lot more).

Hopefully the second Uncharted game will have a slightly deeper combat system, as the emphasis in the first one is mainly gunplay, with combat as an easy way to perform stealth kills and save precious ammo. I still want the emphasis on shooting and exploring, but having more combos would be sweet.
