CECHG06 was reported to the FCC? Or was it reported on a quality control agency of a different country?

Sony should seek to standardize their product, not diversify it, lest people who buy the "lower end" PS3's feel they are missing something.
But what do I know, an enterprise as big as Sony should know what's better for it's own.

Just how many format wars has sony lost? The only failed format that I can think of is minidisc. I know people think that betamax failed but the fact is it made untold amounts of money for them since it was adopted as the television broadcast standard.

What? Are you joking? Sony is the KING of Failed proprietary formats:
Betamax lost to VHS.
DAT - stillborn
Memory Stick is a failure, sony still ramming it down its users' throats.
MiniDisc
UMD - see music or movies on UMD anymore? No.
ATRAC - stillborn
Sony Dynamic Digital Sound
Multi-Media Compact Disc
HiFD
Super Audio CD
Hi-MD
Professional Disc for DATA (PDD)
Sony is a laughing stock for trying to lock its customers into closed formats again and again. And it is VERY widely known, I cant believe your trying to say you've never heard this with a straight face. Unless your 8 years old.

I thought the whole point of swappable drives was to make it easier for customers to do it themselves. Talk about sony running around like headless chicken, can't seem to grasp its failing fortunes. If they only concentrate on games.

6.1 - or think about this.
Maybe they streamline their HDD supplier and a 160GB turns our to be whats
1) readily available
2) offers more to the consumer for the same price
3) possibly costs them the same now as the 60 or 80 gb did then.
C'mon I don't see what there is to complain about.

6.2 - here is a idea....
Why not have a ps3 with no HDD since most people change them anyways....and while your at it instead of cutting bc why not wi-fi...this ps3 could be what...350$...yeaa problem is we aint running sony so lets see how this drama all plays out because it makes no sense...if no one buys a ps3 at 80 gig for 600 bucks..who the hell goes out and gets 80 more gigs for maybe more money or even 600 bucks? sony is stuck at bringing in more sku's, instead of giving the consumers what they want.

6.3 - If you ever shopped for a dell computer
some hd's simply go away because it costs too much to continue to manufacture the old version of the hd.
Plus the option to change hard drives to allow EXISTING users to upgrade on their own. You dont expect a current ps3 owner to go out to buy a new ps3 when it has a bigger hd.
Plus this can be speculation, it can be more than just a hd upgrade.

Now, even people who are thinking about buying a PS3 are getting nervous.
With so many SKUs rolling out one after another, people are not going to buy right away because they want to wait and see what'll be next.

Thats something that most people don't understand. You have to sacrifice to gain...
If they can sacrifice something from their console to lower down the price and if BC is something that is rather not needed then so be it. If more than half the people don't want or use BC, then take it out. Ask yourself THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION: Does the mainstream person want BC in their console or a LOWER price.. I think they will forget about the BC. People are making a big deal out of BC and by people... I don't mean the XBox fans.. or the PS3 fans... ITS NEWS WEBSITES... They are the ones that are blowing this out of proportion and it gets ridiculous.
Bring on the 160GB PS3, I'm sure Sony has some ideas. I HAVE ALWAYS SAID that the PS3 is going the way of the IPOD. With different SKUs... bigger harddrives and lower features and vice versa... A good strategy, but the PS3 needs to establish the widest spectrum. The CHEAPEST it can a console and then bring out the LUXURY one. But its a really tough time to be Sony... They are trying to do 100 things at once.

8.5 - How is Sony going to turn the PS2 gamers into PS3 gamers?
Low price and BC for the 100's of PS2 games they own. I predict this SKU is going to sit on the shelf until another fire sale.
Looks like Sony has lost there MOJO this gen.

I highly doubt that it will be more than $600 bucks for the 160 GB model just think about this for next year. With a $100 drop every year the 40 GB model will be $199 by 2009 or less depending on how and what Sony does with their SKUs. If they change them every year it is unkown what will happen.
The PS3 now either is or will have 65 nm chipsets in them just the same as X360 so it should be much cheaper to produce now and they might could start turning a profit with these expensive SKUs.

17 - Not very credible specs
6 USB ports? Sony already realized 4 was overdoing it. That's why they got rid of two for the 40Gb.
2 HDMI ports? What the hell for?
Besides, if you go to the QJ website, almost all credibility of this rumor is lost in the first paragraph when all of the specs come from internet forums.
OFF TOPIC- Doesn't this writer look like Ellen DeGeneres?

Agreed, I don't think Sony should allow itself to be influenced by a software company that understands how to keep up with consumer needs and acts accordingly with appropriate upgrades and changes to products etc at the right times. Sony is testing the waters with tactics its competition has been doing for decades(is upgrading TV's etc the same as changes in consoles on a hardware level so soon, who knows.
