Bioware to announce a PS3 exclusive at E3?

Today, community director at Bioware confirmed that they will be attending E3 this year.

PSU is speculating that Bioware will announce their PS3 exclusive they've been working on at E3. PSU first heard about the exclusive when they met with Richard Vogel, director of operations at Bioware at the Game Developers Conference. Richard mentioned that a game was in the works and that it would be for the PS3, but other than that he was reluctant to reveal any details.

Bioware did think about making an MMORPG on ps3. Although it's probably gonna be made from people in the texas office which they recently opened for MMORPG development. Not the same people working on Mass Effect(Canada).

Well I talked with Richard at GDC and its definitely a PS3 title. I just speculated that they will announce it at E3 due to their announcements of being at E3.

Hopefully its a new IP. Bioware lists a new next gen title in development on their website so we know there is something there.

Dave: O yea, we are looking forward to releasing our first title on the PS3 this fall.

*PSU Reporter, some random dude, takes it out of context since there was no mention of other consoles. Feeling like he has a huge scoop, he reports the news back to HQ and they post this.

This kind of news happens allllllll the time. Just because they didn't mention another console, people assume it's exclusive.

6 - well it's about time that Bioware lend a hand to the Sony side of things... the more the merrier

this simply means that if it's true and we do see what they are working on at E3, then Sony fans can brag about there exclusive bioware title. ^^ just like how the exbox fans brag about Mass effect, and one can only imagine what that will look like.

7 - Speculation.

Ok I am going to take an educated guess at this. Biowares Canada shop are all working on MassEffect so theres no PS3 exculsive in development there. And Biowares Texas shop recently opened is developing an MMORPG and to be perfectly honest if I'm developing an MMORPG the last thing I'm doing is puting it exculsivly on the PS3 because of these reasons.

1) Not a large enough Online installed base.

2) PSN is FREE and you have to pay for most MMORPGs it's how they make there money so a fee would have to be added puting more people off.

3) Biowares main fan base is in the PC sector they would get infinatly more Revenue on the PC.

So PS3 console + PC title likely
PS3 + 360 + PC possible
PS3 only Not a chance

So unless bioware have some hiden studio we don't know about......(possibly Pandemic after the merger but they are working on MERCs 2)

That is the run down of commonsense so this article is purely speculation and poor speculation at that.

So you think the developing studios can work on 1 project at a time only.. So insomianic only started to work on R&C after RFOM that would be 8 months to finish the game... Lame.. Studios have multiple projects priorties differ pending on investment and time of release.

9 - Richard Vogel works at Bioware Austin

the new studio that's working on MMO.

In fact, Vogel's entire resume consists of *only* MMOs like Ultima Online (post-Richard Garriott era) and Star Wars: Galaxy. He has absolutely NO experience in making single-player games. (His resume is available at MobyGames and few other websites.)

He does NOT work at the main Bioware studio in Edmonton. He has NEVER worked at the main Bioware studio. He has NEVER worked on any past Bioware game.

Vogel, along with Gordon Walton, (i.e., another MMO veteran with NO experience in making single-player games,) is heading a new MMO project in Austin.

10.1 - Maybe, but highly unlikely. Bioware has announced Dragon Age is a PC *exclusive*.

and has reaffirmed it more than once (when people repeated ask Bioware about the rumor of Dragon Age coming to PS3 at Bioware forums -- Bioware has repeatedly denied it.)

A lot of PC gamers are going to be very pissed if Dragon Age also shows up on PS3 (or 360.)

It's more likely to be ported to the 360 as it uses a similar engine to mass effect according to the interview in edge but I think that will stay on the PC as he also said that he wanted to give PC gamers something for supporting them.

13 - It *is* likely that the MMO will be PS3 exclusive

considering how all online services have to go through Microsoft's Xbox Live on 360, while developers host their own online servers on PS3.

However, as I've said, this one will definitely be a MMO if you look at Richard Vogel's resume and past history. (See my previous post.)

FACTS:

1. Richard Vogel works at the new Austin studio - NOT the famous Bioware studio in Edmonton.

2. Richard Vogel is an MMO guy - he has NO experience in making single-player game, and it's unlikely he'll start now.

3. We know that the Austin studio is working on an MMO as its first project.

4. The RUMOR is that Richard Vogel suggested that Bioware is working on a PS3 game... well, since he works at the Austin studio, I seriously doubt he could speak for the Edmonton studio.

5. I doubt Mr. Vogel would have insider information of what goes on in the Edmonton studio. (Let say if you worked in the corporate branch in Los Angeles, would you have knowledge of some "secret" project in the New York office??)

14 - My bet: Bioware will unveil Dragon Age at E3

Bioware will show off Dragon Age at E3. This will be the first time we get a look at Dragon Age. We haven't seen anything at all from that game, and the official forum has just gone online just a few months ago with new pictures coming out once in a while.

Other than that, we'll see a few more gameplay demos for Mass Effect.

The Austin studio is so new that I doubt they'll turn out anything this year, and the only thing that'll come out of the Austin studio will be a MMO. You can look at the profiles of the people at the new Austin studio and make an intelligent guess of what they are working on. They all come from MMO background, and many of them actually worked for Sony in the past (that includes Richard Vogel.)

Don't expect Bioware to set up a new studio (thousands of miles away from HQ) and hired a new bunch of MMO people with absolutely no experience in making single-player games to make a new single-player game for PS3. That'd be too risky for a new business venture.

I doubt is dragon age since they debunked it in their forums..Isnt bioware makin mass effect?? and they have problems with space..and now its taken forever to come out..bioware is a skillful devlopers i know for sure they can bring out the power of the ps3..devlopers that cant push the ps3 hardware knda feel embarass and a lot of them is have difficult time codin for it at the moment..I hope they announce the game at E3..because i remember they did say their workin on the PS3 title game but coudlnt give out information on it..

bioware supports ms 100%, its like konami for sony, i doubt it would be a exclusive to ps3, just like konami wont do an exclusive for the 360, the game announced would prob be multi, its the way bioware are they would do ms exclusives but not sony, just like konami but other way round

after Bioshock and Mass effect , they will be one of the biggest devs for sure ( millions of $ )

and for sure they can make an AAA game for other consoles..specialy Ps3 with huge storage ( WHAT they want in Mass effect ) and nextgen power...

Bioshock is made by Irrational Games (NOT Bioware) published by 2k exclusive to MS.

Mass Effect is made Bioware published by MS exclusive to MS.

Both wont show up on PS3.
This being said, anything made by Bioware is good news. It dont matter if it's exclusive or not.

28 - They said they worked on just the backstory of Dragon Age for 2 whole years. This isn't even the production phase

It would be a crying shame if the game went to waste on PC. It needs to come to the consoles for full exposure.

I said this though in the announcement article, that they'd announce a PS3 game. Let's hope it's not some crappy fantasy MMO.
