Rumor: EA's Cuts Include C&C Team, Pandemic, Maxis & More

Electronic Arts announced yesterday it would be eliminating 1,500 jobs, cutting a dozen in-development games and closing "several facilities." According to multiple sources, those cutbacks include studios like Pandemic, Maxis and nearly the entire Command & Conquer team.

Thats really disappointing for me, as Pandemic were one of my favorite developers last gen.

God I hope these people can get other jobs within the industry.

Agreed. I am a big fan of Pandemic and it's a shame to see them go. Let this be a lesson to the smaller more "successful" developers when thinking about merging into a corporate juggernaut like EA.

It still upsets me that Bioware merged into that cesspool of a company.

I agree, they're a bad company. Even if they do produce some good games, the politics in the boardroom leave people jobless. Buy buy buy, then lay off, lay off, lay off.

I just hope that EA are not putting most of their eggs in Bioware's basket.

The last thing we need is the suits cracking the whip with that development studio.

I miss Westwood Studios. I really enjoyed the first Lands of Lore game back in the mid 90s. The CD version had Patrick Stewart do the voiceover of the king!

Poor Pandemic and Maxis, two of my favorite developers. too many gaming studios are closing down recently. Kind of depressing when you think about it.

Maxis was EA's golden child a few years back when The Sims first made a big impact.

Now that the shine has been taken off that franchise a little they gut the studio that created it.

Same with the C&C guys I guess.

It just bugs me that EA will keep the rights to these IPs but let go of the talented people that made them great games in the first place.
