it's been available for 199 pounds at many major retailers for quite a while - not just recently... however at 199 pspgo is still way too expensive.

If it drops to $199 here, I might consider getting one around Christmas.
But $249 is a no PSPgo.

Erm most of the retailer had the console for £199 since they opened preorders. Also same can be said for PS3, which is meant to be £249, but most places have it for £229 OR bundle in a free game. This is always the case in UK.

Woot! Woot! I'm buying one this xmas :)
I was going to wait until the new year but I want it more now. This was unexpected. All the people who bought it on launch day must be p!ssed.
It's now 50quid less than a PS3
@below, you mean the January sales? I don't think so...

3 - Here is a great idea...
Lets make the Go almost as expensive as the PS3.
Lets make the software more expensive than buying it on UMD.
Sounds like a winning formula!
The Go will fail unless they drop the price of the software and stop selling the PSP-3000 which provides much better value for money.

I agree with the part that PSPgo needs a price cut, but disagree with the part of PSP-3000>PSPGo value, because PSP Go have bluetooth, is smaller but with a nice screen and the 16 gb makes a better value for the PSPgo. If both cost the same I would buy a PSPgo.

with all the issues Sony has gone through with pricing for the ps3 etc, I would have thought by now they would have learned their lesson.

M$ was desperate though. 24hrs later after SONY's...pffft.
Here who is SONY competing with?
No one.
Yes you could say Nintendo but a DS isn't a multi-media device and it is inferior to PSP. A DS is basically a mini N64 while a PSP is a mini-PS2. Plus they have different games. I can only buy Cooking Mama on a DS :P
Maybe SONY has really good valid reasons. We don't know.
It won't go up like the arcade and the Wii though, it can only fall from here.

7 - It needs more than a price cut...
Comparing the PSP 3000 to the Go Sony is throwing in some stuff that is cheap to buy like the flash memory but still 1 stick, built in battery so its worse off and a smaller screen...Where have the days gone where Sony used to give better specs in their products and high quality? Even with the new slim PS3 well since the 60gb PS3 was discontinued its never been like Sony to remove stuff and degrade the quality...I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.

7.1 - "desperate times call for desperate measures" WTF?????
SONY launched the PS3 in 2006 and the media has jumped all over it continuosly since then for negative reasons.
They said "it was ugly and too big". That is not true; I don't know why the PS3 never won an award in design because the originalPS3 is just SEXY ;) It looks like it comes from space. It looks...it looks futuristic!!!
Linux was removed. Now lets be honest. A very small percentage of PS3 users were using that feature. So it was a minor feature in the first place.
It launched with memory card slots and 4 usb ports but the public obviously didn't like that idea either.
The PSP on the other hand has gone through those changes because of the feedback of which SONY constantly aks its users, what they think of the PSP basically and how it can be improved.
SKYPE
Bluetooth
No UMD
Microphone
Anti-refelective screen etc.
If anything its the public response that has changed the PSP and PS3.

Hope people who bought it at launch can get a voucher or a price difference refund.
I'd be pissed if I had just bought one and the next day it drops in price.

What is it about that system that gets people so giddy to part with their cash? Week in week out it pummels the PSP dirty.
Who keeps buying it?!

Here's an idea: How about people either buy it or not and stop crying about it being too expensive. This is the exact reason why things got cut from the PS3. Everyone complained about the price so they removed features and made it cheaper. After that everyone complained that it didn't have enough features anymore. Either quit crying and buy one or go spend your money elsewhere. Its pretty damn simple.

Why would you buy this? I mean you pay more for less. No umd, everything has to be downloaded. Smaller screen. I just don't get Sony fans? Now if they had called this the PSP Slim and knocked off about 50.00 then it would be dominating about now. Oh well.
