imagine sumthing like Killzone 2, but different guns do different things.
Like one creates a shield but doesnt shoot

another shoots one big clip but u cant reload and theres no burst fire (think of cyclone from PD).

And instead of u finding guns and every one being the same person, each person is characterized by the weapons they choose. and u can increase ur skill in these weapons opening up new abilities

once u choose a different gun, u lose all ur skills in the prior weapon.

and its not just guns of course

maybe u have a lvl 1 ax that just swings and kills

but a lvl 10 ax can hit the ground and stun opponents for a moment

and a lvl45 ax can hit the ground and the opponents fly up, then it can shoot a wide beam eradicating them all

or theres a guy wit wings. a lvl1 wings can fly and just weild a pistol.

but a lvl 40 wings can fly 5x as fast and drop bombs

this is all multiplayer of course, cmon make it happen!!

"first-person games" =/= FPS

I don't think that's what he was talking about (making shooters) since he referenced HL2's first-person approach to storytelling. Would surprise me if he did.

What are you smoking dude? Fumito Ueda's FPS would be story and setting and situationally focused and character driven, not a "weapon or super powers" uber upgrade frag fest you just described. Imagine Ico with your ideas implemented in a FPS. rofl.

I think Ueda is one of the few guys in the industry who could really clean off the dust of the FPS genre and bring something fresh to the table.

It would be great to see he's working on a title like that in the future!

if he decided to make a FPS game.. it'll probably be the best FPS game ever <3 (yes I love FPS games and played a lot of them..) but because I trust him, and I'm sure he'll be delivering a new and fresh concept to the genre just like his past games and TLG

I loved SotC and I can't wait to get my hands on TLG.

Interesting, i would like to what this guy could do with a FPS. I'd imagine it would be very story driven which would be good since most FPS games have really crappy stories.

Wow, you guys aren't thinking outside the box here. Different Weapons? combinations? First-Person doesn't have to be a shooter experience. I'm imagining an event through the eyes of an unknown character, and since Ueda-san's games are known for there atmospheric settings and ambient noises, you know that's gonna play a role in the first-person perspective. Can you imagine Last Guardian in First-Person Perspective? How about ico? That's should give you an idea. ^_^

Is everyone blind?

He NEVER said 'shooter'.

He said first person game, and he says he likes Half-life because it's immersive, and doesn't take the player out of the experience through cutscenes.

For example, Oblivion is in first-person, but it's not an FPS.

You're all too simple-minded and think that the only type of game with a first-person perspective is a shooter with guns and enemies.
