PS3 sales Slump To 10,000 This Week In Japan - Wii Sells Over 75,000

In what must be very disappointing news for Sony, Wii sales were around 7 times as high as PS3 sales in Japan this week, following Super Paper Marios release(which sold over 150,000 copies). PS3 sales have been decreasing week by week in Japan and they are likely to drop to around the 5,000 mark with no major releases until July. The PS3 is suffering a similar fate in the US and Europe, with Wii still sold out everywhere.

Like I said before... The PS3 is bought by fanboys and then... Not sold at all anymore.

Japan: 10k a week now.
USA: 130k a month (360 sells between 200k and 240k the last months)
UK: dropped to 17k some weeks ago. Mark my words. They're close to 10k to 12k now also.

It falls back more and more... Anyone remember this picture? It just tells the PS3's faith

VG charts is good, they dont estimate Japan data, all came from M-create before they published their finding. For US data, they're been over estimate and readjust once they receive NPD Data.

Well you all change your tune now...but I was punished for posting it about a month ago...by people like themart etc. And I was told that vgcharts are off limits. People saying...oh it's all made up etc. saying Oh the 360 has passed 10million by far and the ps3 is no where near 3million. And now you're all saying it's fine. I'm so confused. I mean i reported all those posts saying the ps3 had passed 3million...confusing indeed

I think this proves the reason why the ps3 is desperatly trying to find ways to lower the cost of the ps3 so early. With the 360s big guns coming out this year and the ps3 selling so terrible, looks like by the end of 2007 the 360 will EXPAND on its lead on the ps3 by a far margin.

as a die hard Laker fan, I must say we have no answer for the Suns. Hell, we don;t even have an answer for ourselves, because that's who we're playing against - plus the opponent. I think the Kobe vs. the world approach is good for a few games, but not in the playoffs and not without Shaquille O'neal.

So I say to my Center - less comrades (all meanings of without a center) -- "Good night, turn out the lights...the party's over".

Hell -- Magic, Kenney, Barkley, and Ernie have more enthusiasm than the rest of our team. It's really sad to see this franchise disentegrate to what they've become (to me). Good luck on the rest of the series dude 'cause we're goin' fishing, unless divine intervention takes place.

Them damn lakers.....I haven't lost hope as a die hard laker fan. But, it looks like they have lost hope in themselves as you stated. They have lost their fight and team chemistry. In the first half of the season I just knew they would be doing big thangs. But after all the injuries...their team chemistry is all out of whack and they just look bad. Its sad to watch. But...I still have hope that they snap out of this horrible stint they are in and have been in since after the allstar break. Just horrible.

9 - Wow......Its funny how sony fans say to wait a few years to see who wins when they are being outsold

2 to 1 by the year old 360...which is building on its already massive lead...and 7 to 1 by Nintendo....Which has halfed MS's lead and left Sony in the dust. I hate to say it...But I told you so. I said this very thing would happen 6 months prior to the ps3 launching. I said blu ray was a mistake to add and the cell was not a good move for gaming....I was right though I'm not happy being right.

When blu ray announces it has sold 1.2 million blu ray movies compared to 950k hd dvd's...they talk about the format war is over....that is hilarious. If we use their own standards....the console war is over in a much bigger way than the format war. 1.2 million to 950k....thats only a 250k difference. But 11 million to 3 million or nintendo's 5 million to sony's 3 million. Thats huge folks. And the sales of the ps3 are dropping week by week and month by month. There is no way to spin this folks. It is what it is. Only a major price drop can give the ps3 life this next gen.

For those who say the 360 is dead in Europe....Please show me a link to numbers in Europe backing that "False" claim. From last I read the 360 has sold around 4 million in Europe. Please tell me how that is a failure when MS launched worldwide at one time in all 3 territories? And Japan is a small market compared to USA and Europe. And no one ever thought an American Video game company would outsell a Sony or Nintendo product in their own country. I know I didn't. But, its good to see that sales are increasing for the 360 from where they were last year at this time. Any progress is good progress for MS in Japan. But explain Sony's ps3 sales falling rapidly in "Every" territory and their damn system just freakin launched folks. Thats insane. WOW....

The 360 is getting outsold by the Wii nearly 29:1. A good news story would have mentioned this, as the next gen console war is 360 vs Wii vs PS3. However, this was posted by, who else, theMart. The numbers are definitely not impressive from the PS3 either, but they are certainly better than the 360! 7:1 or 29:1 you do the math....

theMart, I am partial to the 360 because that's what I own...but seriously, your brand of xbotism is over the top. I honestly expected the Wii to sell good. It's cheap and it's original. But it's only a gimmick. Anything out of the ordinary catches a consumers intrest. When I was in elementary I thought Pokemon cards were awesome and so did everyone else. Guess what? Pokemon is as dead as disco.
So yeah it'll sell well with consumers not familiar with the gaming industry, but what happens after that? What happens when less and less friends lose intrest in your "Wii Parties" and your left alone basically playing Gamecube games with motion sensing? I won't be suprise to see a surplus of Wiis on ebay soon.

it`s $600 (will drop when they stop selling the ps2)

cause Mobile Suit Gundam, and VF5 ain`t cuttin it for $600.

I bought mine cause i`m hard core for vids, and i know the future of the machine w/ first party dev, Bluray and the Cell is looking Bright.

I don't own a PS3 nor do I plan on buying one, but I'm confident that PS3 sales will increase as more games are released. I'd like the PS3 game library to grow to a size comparable to that of the 360's so the race between the two consoles really gets heated, and that will no doubt benefit consumers.
