Why this guy gets paid the big bucks is beyond me. It's not like one would need a degree to predict the obvious. It does beg the question though, what will this new console look like and will it be rid of any unreliability issues that have plagued the 360 thus far?

Chances are the only way a new 360 will be released is the rumored slim version they been working on. That could be out this xmas or early in 2010.

As far as a new xbox (720) well...prob not till 2011 or 2012.

At the Natal Launch, they said "Natal will work with *all* current and future Xbox 360s".

You're spreading nonsense.

Even if a new Xbox 360 (slim?) or Xbox 720 does arrive in 2010/11, Natal will still work with all Xbox 360s.

I think a slim version is inevitable, but not necessary.
I think that people are expecting a new console to launch at the same time as Natal.
I dont think it will have anything more than the current version has.

Firstly, Xbox 360s all have 3 year warranties. When the PS2 was dying left and right, where was Sony? I've got three dead PS2s in my closet *right now*. Dont talk about "console history".

As for the Xbox 360, it is dominating the HD market -- if MS does release a new unit, it will surely be backwards compatible to preserve their current lead.

Please, if you're going to make-up shiat to spread, at least try harder.

Microsoft has ownership in the parts this time around. With the 1st Xbox, they didn't own crap. They had to pay Nvidia & IBM every time a system was purchased. They were never going to turn a profit. That's why it was dumped. There are a few more games I wish were BC (mainly Deus Ex), but I'd rather their resources gom towards the 360 as opposed to emulation. They will NOT abandon the 360 like they did the Xbox.

Neither of us can deny that the Xbox 360 hardware has reliability issues. Sure it has the warranty, but for some people the warranty will end before their console dies. My warranty is going to end in November and I am still on my first xbox 360. After that date, if it breaks, I have to shell out cash to pay for it. To me it's seems like an inevitability that it will break.

The first Xbox was just a bad decision. Microsoft didn't own the parts and therefore was losing cash. The weird thing is that Microsoft seems like a company that would avoid that kind of situation. I'm not too sad about it because the 360 plays all of the games that I like from the original xbox.

And the Playstation 2 also had reliability issues. My cousins PS2 broke very early on after he purchased it, and it cost so much to repair that he didn't feel like fixing it.

What makes you think MS will make the same mistake twice? Sony had problems with the PS2, and it took a class action lawsuit to wake them up. I guarantee you that with all of the negative publicity MS had, along with setting aside a billion dollars, MS will put their next console through the ringer before they release it, and they'll be more careful about who they buy parts from for their console.
