PC gamers dont like getting ripped off and DRM if just that

like valve has done on research,

no drm and cheaper games
means more sales and less backlash from gamers

and thats the reason why spore sold so poor
release your game with DRM and charge more than £25 or £30 and then you should expect piracy, its just dumb

on consoles you may want to pay £50 for sh!t games were you feel like you've been mugged or get and better version for like half the price on PC

yep Sins of A Solar Empire, Indie game for a niche crowd, No hype, popularity or advertisement mainstream whatsoever and yet it did 500k in its first week because it didn't have any DRM at all

Spore's exaggerated rampant piracy was just an elaborate message to EA to stop the DRM crap, Most people who legitimately purchased Spore were screwed over by the online DRM because of server issues whiles pirates had hassle free experience, How fair is that? What do you expect an honest customer to do when their legally bought copy isn't working and they're well aware there's a working pirated version?

I know a lot of people who bought Spore and yet still pirated it to spite EA and be able to play the game, Same thing happened with Bioshock, They didn't expect great sales for pc at launch, So their servers weren't enough for processing online activations and they were overwhelmed and crashed, In the end, honest customers were screwed over and got the short end of the stick whiles pirates went scott free in world in Rapture,

For Spore, The number were abnormally high and didn't match the number of creatures created at the time, Which clearly shows some people just downloaded and probably never even played it, It was just a message

The PC orginally was the largest platform of gaming at its beginning and it still is and will always be.

EA needs to get some facts straight. PC gaming has always been bigger arena.

WoW has some 14,000,000 players. Steam has like 18,000,000 users. These two services outnumber Live's numbers and PSN's by a wide margin. And there's a lot more people playing games that aren't WoW or on Steam too. Just look at The Sims. That franchise has sold over 100,000,000 copies.

PC Gaming is alive and well, and will always be. Console gaming will die out before PC gaming ever does.

yea, right, you have to upgrade every month or else your parts will blow up

/sarcasm

can we end this FUD campaign already? I built my rig in 2006 and it's still maxing out all the games coming out today, that's 3 years and counting, I don't see myself upgrading until a major benchmark game comes out like Project Offset which would probably be 2011 or late 2010, so that'd be more like upgrading every 5 years, which is roughly the lifespan of your average console, Ps2 is the exception because it's the most successful console ever, even then after 5 years of ps2, the next generation had already started

And technically, gaming pcs don't cost more because they do more, So the value is what counts, Isn't that the same valid argument that ps3 gamers use to justify the higher price tag? So with pcs, you get freedom to use whatever shape, size or type of controller you want, trackir, fps bulletproof vest, the most versatile community ready and willing to offer free tech support, mods and endless sea of free content and tweaks to improve games drastically, better graphics, real full HD 1080p, higher framerates, faster load times, superior multimedia capabilities and workstation functionality, And the biggest of them all emulators, I'm playing God of War 1 and 2 emulated in FULL real 1080p HD, How can you beat that?

The functionality and practicality of my gaming machine is 10x better than any console can ever dream of, So of course, it cost me a little more than grabbing a 360 or ps3 for $400-$600 back then, It cost me $982 but the extra value is worth it, For example, my pc doubles up as my media center in my living room, I use my remote, wireless keyboard, air mouse and wireless 360 and dualshock 3 pads and the pc itself is stacked under the hdtv, With the help of steam and digital distribution and iso backup programs, I can launch games with the push of a button on the remote without even having to get up and insert a disc, It's gaming convenience at its finest, And games are cheaper so i save even more, 53 games on that inteface plus 15 others and I spent only roughly $1500 total which is an average of $20 per game

I can also organize my netflix rentals, hulu streams, dvd backups and bootleg copies all into 1 nice interface

So if your BS is true and pc gaming isn't undoubtedly technically superior, how come my 3 year old 8800gtx rig is doing all this and playing the most demanding pc game ever, Crysis like this without a single upgrade in 3 years

Can you play God of War 3 right now this very moment? No, Can you play God of War 1 and 2 in real HD native 1080p on your ps3 or 360 or wii or ps2? No but I can on my gaming pc

And sorry but my roommate already has a ps3 so I'll be fully enjoying God of War 3 on my 1080p Sharp Aquos just like I did with MGS4 and those select few worthy games that aren't on pc, I'm a gamer at core, but I don't see any platform as superior in the overall sense, Though, I won't hold back in acknowledging the technical advantages of one over the other, Ps3 has the best lineup this year, I don't mind admitting that because it's true, but I prefer pc gaming, and it doesn't change the fact that I still love blasting through Uncharted on my roommate's ps3 and it doesn't make console games any less fun or appealing, I don't see how that's any different from a ps3 owner acknowledging the ps3 exclusives look better than 360 exclusives technically, but It's still about the games in the long run and the improved graphics are a welcomed perk, It always didn't hurt to have better graphics

The only difference is that I would have the full God of War 3 trilogy experience in 1080p unlike ps3 owners out there who can only upscale it to a blurry form, Even then, God of War 1 can't be upscaled very well, I'm not saying that's bad or that i'm better than everyone else, I'm just saying it's a huge plus/luxury for having a pc gaming rig, Very nice perk, that's all, People can replay the old God of War games on their ps3s and ps2s, but I can play them a little better jaggie free, I bet many ps3 owners would gladly like to have such a perk,

FFXII, Kingdom Hearts II and all those games looks gorgeous in ultra sharp 1080p 60 fps on an hdtv, far better than they would upscaled

nice rig

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 very nice
4GB RAM very nice
8800GTX very nice, one of the best cards nvidia ever made

but i dont think that you can max out all games definitely not crysis, GTAIV or stalker clear sky

with my OC Q6600 @ 3.18GHz atm and GTX 285 i could never play crysis at 2560 by 1600 with 16 times AA
atm im at 1920 by 1080 and only at 4 times AA, very high

with GTAIV all setting highest besides one and one slider at 80 at 1920 by 1080

and stalker clear sky with all setting maxed only 13 frames on average

my 9800 GTX rig

Nice system, TABSF. I'm planning to change my Core 2 Duo E6850 out for a Core 2 Quad Q6700 in a few weeks. As it stands my system is below.

Core 2 Duo@3.5GHz
4GB RAM
GTX 285

My Windows Experience Index is minimum 5.9 with only my HDD write speed keeping it down. For gaming and whatnot, it rates me 6.9 which isn't bad for a single GPU. That's also for Windows 7, not Vista. I had Vista but it blew up on me.

All nice that they say that, but it still doesn't stop them from delaying the PC versions of their games.
