COD4 Leads BAFTA 09 Nominations List

GI.biz: "The nominations for this year's BAFTA Videogames Awards have been released with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare topping the list.

The hugely popular shooter is up for seven separate awards, and is just eligible for nomination by being released after the last BAFTA event in late 2007."

Trust me, it's not winning half those awards. Remember BAFTA isn't based on the popularity contests the rest of the internet judges videogames by. There's a higher standard at work here and when it comes down to it, COD4 doesn't live well against them.

lol, I agree again.

Metal Gear belongs in this category and would be a strong contender to win.

Call of Duty 4 somehow is in this category, and I don't think it should be. Call of Duty 4 is an amazing game, but it will not be remembered for it's story & character, it will be remembered for gameplay and multiplayer.

Im starting to hate COD4 its got everyone convinced that auto aim arcade shooters are the only way to control FPS.

The games great but its not the only way a shooter should be played.

This list is awful. I disagree with so many of these choices you wouldn't believe it. Why the hell are a third the games nominated from 2007 (Like Call of Duty 4 for instance)?

But what is most distressing to me is the Strategy category. Valkyria Chronicles deserves to win that category more than ANY of those games, and they didn't even nominate it? Pathetic.

Gears nominated for multiplayer. Fallout 3 story & character. Rock Band for best game while LBP gets casual. And GTA4...

I'm still P!ssed at them for not supporting it more. They should give something to the huge fanbase. I mean look at WAW support. They recently annouced more DLC for WAW. IW just sitting on their laurels and not giving us cod4 addicts more loving. I know they mite be stuck with finishing 6th part but the planned community based maps are vaporware or what?
