Nintendo shows their true colors when a fan loses everything in a fire

Destructoid writes: "I've gotten comfortable with the fact that the Nintendo of today is not the same company I was once enamored with as a child, and that's ok with me -- they're still changing the face of gaming, whether it appeals to my demographic or not. Still, I'm a person who is always happy to hear a story about kindness, and Nintendo took part in just such a story recently."

2.1 - Yeah, didn't really understand that comment myself.
But that was really kind of Ninty. I think with this news and the new Arc Rise Fantasia trailer, my frigid HD heart is finally melting.

I feel the urge to buy a Wii rising. (Definitely not to be confused with Dead Rising Wii, they made poor Isabella look like Kirsti Alley.)

I guess they were nice about it either way.

"I've gotten comfortable with the fact that the Nintendo of today is not the same company I was once enamored with as a child, and that's ok with me -- they're still changing the face of gaming, whether it appeals to my demographic or not."

wtf? But yeah I saw this story posted on another website few days ago. nintendo's customer service is second to none.

whats wrong with the statement

the guy is saying nintendo isn't the same as they used to be, which they are not but their core values remain the same

Whats wrong with that statement? Here is what is wrong with it.. What is the most common complaint from adult gamers on N4G when it comes to Nintendo? Answer = I use to love them as a kid but now that I am an adult I cant stand them they have changed and now focus on kids... No Nintendo has always had the same focus, everyone. It's the ones saying Nintendo changed that actually are the ones that changed.
I'm sure that many adults looked down on the Nes games most of us played as too childish even back then. My second system was a NeS and I've had most of Nintendo's console over the years, I see no difference. Then again I also dont look at myself as the same person now as I was 30 years ago.

The title makes it sound like Nintendo is evil.

Glad to hear that they were kind enough to support them.

On topic : that was kinda nice from Nintendo (I'll do as if it was not for comercial purpose)

Its nice to hear that somewhere in these "for profit only" companies, there is someone with a heart that doesn't only crave the almighty Dollar/yen/ profit. It would be nice to hear of this happening more often but then they(Big Business) wouldn't acutally be Big. I hope that this unfortuante guy will return the favor someday to someone else. Just imagine if Nintendo hadn't replaced anything, this would just be another statistic in the home fire market.

Ps another reason to pay for Insurance.

15 - I used to work for nintendo customer service...
...and it's nice to see some people actually respect us and value our effort. Unfortunately a lot of the calls I would get were from new customers who were generally clueless beyond imagining.

Me - "Okay, press the red button on the inside of your remote then the red button next to the sd slot."

Customer - "Does the Wii need to be turned on?"

Me again - '-_-;

-or-

Customer - "I dropped my DS in the sink and Toy's R Us said you would replace it with a new one for free."

Me - "Fuçk Toy's R Us!"

Oh and the email team consists of a bunch of bad asses.

Shortly after I sold my PS3, I remember one of my friends had his own turned into a very expensive paperweight during that whole firmware 2.4 debacle.

To solve the problem, he was called upon to get a screwdriver and open up his PS3, take out the harddrive, and reformat it on his PC. It didn't work because it turned out that the harddrive was permanently corrupted, so he went out and bought a 20GB replacement harddrive or something.

When that too failed, he wound up having to pay 150 dollars to Sony so they could repair a problem they created.

20 - Ninty Customer service....
8 years after the virtual boy went defunked (ie immediately) I got one off ebay. A hairline crack formed on the little stands middle joint. I called up nintendo and they sent me a brand new one no questions asked not once but TWICE. Ever since nintendo has held a special place in my heart. Customer service is always second to none. Yay nintendo! Fire is your only weakness.

Nintendo rocks!

Anyone remember when Insomniac did the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on ABC? They gave this kid in a wheelchair a PS3 and a copy of Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction before anyone else had it. Then, when he was playing it, he realized he was an actual character IN the game.

Those guys are freakin' awesome!
