Computer game addict swallows saw blades

A man addicted to computer games swallowed five pieces of saw blade to commit suicide. Fu, 23, kept talking incoherently about how to win his favorite computer games, even after being sent to a Beijing hospital ICU for round-the-clock emergency treatment on Sunday.

He has been addicted to computer games since early in junior high school, but his condition worsened recently, said his parents.

Sad story but this kid´s problem started and his parents should have had him stopped from playing as soon has the problem started! They say in the article:

The problem was there and they didnt treat it?! Then it went from bad to worse with no turning point. Sad, real sad...

Also, lets not blame this on videogames. Depression comes from a lot of things going wrong in a person´s point of view. After a hard day at work, I found myself relying on videogames to let some steam off! At the weekend I go for a walk along the beach and play some more videogames.

To be fair to the parents,sometimes they do something about this, but as kids reach a certain age you can't tell them what to do. They will do as they please....

Whether it's video games, movies, or books...people need an escape. We need to be by ourselves and experience emotions we, otherwise, wouldn't. In the case of this young man, it had taken over various other things in his life. When you let something meant for entertainment become your whole world, you will sink.

If your life gets to the point where you need to replace human beings with other things, there IS a problem.

I'm sorry this happened and my prayers go out to him and his family. I just hope he's ohkay.

Often, when suicide includes severe pain, the individual is blaming his or herself for something. They feel that they deserve the pain. It is not for attention and it doesn't mean they "want to feel something". At the suicidal stage, they're far past that point.

Did I miss something... or did it never really give a reason why he committed suicide? A lot of people are addicted to video games, that reason alone won't make you commit suicide. Unless it was over a particular game (like the guy that killed himself over everquest), then I don't see the whole reason of saying he was addicted to computer games. Unless ofcourse an update comes to the story and proves me wrong.

Also why swallow razor blades? I must say if I were to be so down that I made the decision to kill myself, then obviously I would already be in pain enough I would want to choose something quick and painless. Unless I secretly was hoping to be saved.
