Not sure I like where this is going man. I really hope Koji wont go multi-platform. We allready have enough devs making multi-platform games.

Keep making exclusive games Koji!!! And keep the Japanese feel/atmosphere in your games!!! Quality over Quantity Kojima!!!!!

This is the only place on the internet where you will find kids begging developers to forget about buisness and instead lose money to keep games exclusive

Not sure what you think of me, but Kojima really should stay making platform exclusive games, regardless of platform. Lets face it, platform exclusive games > multi-platform games.

This is the only game developer I am actually a fan of. Whichever platform he goes, I go. So excuse me for wanting my favorite dev to keep doing what he has been doing, instead of selling out just to get a few dollars more.

Yeah, I guess you are right, I guess I AM hoping that he will put business in second place (like how he has always done) and keep choosing for quality.

And lol at losing money, you think Kojima loses money on his projects? I HIGHLY doubt it.

You're saying that from the point of view of the consumer, we shouldn't want developers to make the best game they can? If that means staying exclusive or not, it still comes down to people wanting better games.

I'm a little nervous about this whole thing tbh. I just hope that Kojima Productions don't lose their identity in this reset.

2 - If you look deeper into translation
it sounds a little like they may go multiplatform, not just the 360 but the Wii as well. That would be devastating to the quality of games, we all saw what he did on the PS3 only, you can't match that type of quality when you go Multiplat. I'm hoping the meaning is they will stay PS3 only, and just make a new IP.

He doesn't say anything about multiplatform (could be likely, though). He is just talking about his internal structures and how they (his company) work. That could mean anything. Looks like he needs to streamline his development. If that means multiplatform, we'll see. But its much more then that, IMO. Can mean more global studios, different focus on different areas, local cultures, etc. You can still support multiple platforms but deliver specific content for each.

2.2 - pretty much..
i mean, he's saying he wants to compete with western devs, and achieve global dominance...

the only way he can do that is to not limit his products to just one console...

its just common business sense...

now i'm not saying MGS will be ported.. i highly doubt that..

but im thinking new multi-plat IPs will be created...

its the only way to reach out to every gamer with different consoles in every region of the globe...

on a side note, are u hiphopgamer haters gonna admit that he may be right about "Hiedo turning to Xbox360"?

i thought not...

If he makes some game exclusive for the X360 then I get a X360 if it makes one exclusive for the Wii then I get a Wii, if it' a multiplatform I just have to wait for it.

I really don't care if those games comes to the X360 if that means cash for Kojima that will help to have hin around making more games then welcome to the multiplatform world!!

4.1 - ... and yet, you idiots STILL don't want to share any of your exclusives.... you want it all, and don't want to gie up anything. Greedy bastards.
... and you STILL can't have Metal Gear Solid IV... not yours...

I mean, think about what guiltyspark's saying everyone... Multiplatform is the way to go for any game developer to make serious profits... now think about it like this... what he, and every other person who opens their mouth really means is that every PS3 EXCLUSIVE... not Wii EXCLUSIVE, NOT XBOX360 EXCLUSIVE, just the PS3 EXCLUSIVES... should go multi-platform, so we can have them on the 360, too... you know, in the interest of fairness, and so the companies will make bigger profits.

Yet, do you see them worrying about a company like Epic Games, or better yet... Valve? Nope? It's just those that do exclusives on Sony's console that they worry about...

... and with that said, someone serve guiltyspark a nice, tall, frothy cup of STFU.

And that is the kind of mentality that is murdering the playstation right now , the entire fanbase seems to be made up of loyalists that only buy exclusive software.

Third party games are the most important titles in gaming regardless of what your backwards ass logic has to say about it.

If first party games were so important like you said they were , sony would have sold alot of playstation 3's this holiday with games like little big planet and resistance leading the charts.

except that didnt happen now did it

Are you completely simple GuiltySpark? It's common knowledge that platform exclusive games, in general, are better than multiplat games. Regardless of console, a game developed specifically for one piece of hardware is going to be better than one that has to cater for a wide range of different specs.

Seriously, shut up, you're making yourself look like an idiot fanboy.

5.5 - lol
i said regardless of console didn't I. seems you just want to bring up the ps3. I'm not going to deny that it is my favorite console right now.

But if i was to go buy 360 games you bet i would be buying a bunch of exclusive games as well, Gears 2 is the best because its exclusive think of all those great graphics having to cater to multiple consoles it wouldn't even be half as good.

Exclusives are generally better, i buy the better games deal with it, there is nothing wrong with what i do. developers should make an exclusive game for each console going one at a time.

i said what i buy =/= what other people buy as if i should care about games sales. I only care about quality and my enjoyment and that is where the exclusives far outshine most multiplat games.

Also resistance sold over a mill as well as littlebigplanet. Go spread misinformation and stupidity elsewhere.

this is coming from a group of gamers who need to make sure everybody on the internet knows that 2008 was the year of the ps3 regardless of the fact that its dead last in both software sales and hardware sales and has no chance of catching up anytime soon

Kojima went multiplat because nobody is buying the ps3 and its games

If playstation was in the position 360 is in right now i could promise you he would not have made this decsision.

You do know MGS4 is a fan service, right? Kojima wanted to retire from MGS since 2 I believe but he made 3 and 4 to please the fans. Besides, Kojima is a perfectionist.
Konami is a business, and even though it's a corporation, it can act choose to be like other companies or be more like a local company. The pro about big business is lots of money and can offer better discount, but usually terrible costumer service and can rip people off. The pro about local business is usually quality services and you can bargain, the con is small stocks and fewer sales.

Multiplatforms are usually worse in qualities and gameplay can be limited but can sell more. Exclusive can bring out the developers' vision and that's where quality lies.

You might not think so, but games can be art and I'm sure there are developers who want to paint a masterpiece to perfection as oppose to making 2 half ass painting to make more money.

Oh right because if mgs 2 flopped hard I'm so sure he still would have made 3 and 4 to "please the fans". Get real dude. Regardless of what he said, profit was still the #1 reason to develop his game. They saw mgs as a franchise that was still profitable and ran with it.

fan service....I lol'd. Any developer can say what he wants. Their allowed to. But its money that will always make the decisions in business

so your counter-argument is "my inner-child" died...

wow...

you can go on about a "fan service" all you want. At the end of the day Kojima has people working for him that depend on him to pay their bills and feed their families. Now tell me, would Kojima put a "fan service" first before that?

Like I said, MGS had to be first and foremost, profitable before he'd even consider making a 3 and 4.

As long as I got the games on my PS3 that I love to play I am happy. Valkyrie Chronicles is one of the most original and fun games I have played in a long time along with LBP. Then we have Killzone 2 and InFamous and Uncharted 2 this year. Yeah I am proud to be a PS3 owner. 360 owners can take their same old games.

Of you guys that want Kojima to stay exclusive really are blind to the situation that is facing developers and the economics of the game industry. You talk about how good exclusives games are because of maximizing the systems power and so forth. Have you stopped to consider how much money and man hours it took to make the game the way it is? Have you noticed the rash of developers around the world that are having to close their doors and fire thousands of people. Many of whom are talented, worked hard, and love to create games. It's this foolish petty mindedness that is starting to really make gaming suck from a fan perspective.

Word to Kojima. Do whatever you have to do to continue to make ground breaking games. I could careless what platform it is. I just want the games to be fun, and you to be around for more generations. If it means multiplatform games, do what needs to be done. Don't listen to
the morons who are not in your shoes and prefer you go down with your ship just to make their egos feel good...bicccchess.

Wow, he didn't say anything about going multiplatform in the entire article. "Starting from zero" is a phrase commonly repeated in MGS4 if any of you have actually played the game. He's just talking about making games as if the whole world is going to play them instead of just japan, unlike japanese games which tend to be marketed to a japan only audience, he has said this before. Jesus, just buy a PS3. I don't see the big deal. You want a game, then buy the console for it.

If I wanted to play gears or halo I'd buy a 360, I'm not begging Bungie or Epic for the games and pretending as if I care about "how much money" they make.(4 million sold isn't enough anymore right? -_- Which was more than MGS3)

I have to agree with you there Name. I just think the mentality is a bit silly and one sided as of late, especially in this thread. For example, the mentality seems to be that "MGS4 is doomed, and Kojima is a doomed, and the game is a failure for selling about 4 million copies on the PS3 alone. Kojima has to go multiplatform to survive" is the mantra I keep hearing.

But Gears of War, selling about 4 million copies on the 360, is a super uber mega success, and Epic needs to stay exclusive.

Bit of a hypocritical stance there. For the most part, going multiplatform will give a dev a better chance at surviving in these times, especially if they are third party.

If people are going to argue the whole "devs need to go multiplatform to survive" sentiment, which I think is most certainly a valid one, then people need to realize said argument applies to ALL third party companies, not just the ones people want to see go to their console of choice.
