I'm betting this game from Criterion will rival Killzone 2 and Crysis in the graphics department.Criterion have made some of the best engines of all time especially Renderware.Hopefully they use a new cutting edge engine like CRYengine2 and not anything like Unreal Engine.

They have made some good engines but i doubt in will come close to KZ2 and Crysis, i am thinking COD4 graphics notched up a little and destructible environments, that will still look great though

I doubt they could make a Multi-play game Rival KZ2 graphically but it will as someone stated a slight upgrade to how COD4 looked which isn't bad..

Black was a great game back on the PS2 a little on the short sight with low replay value but it did look freakin good....a better story would be most welcome this time around also..

IMO, black was better on the ps2 than killzone was. Seeing as killzone 2 will be big on ps3, black could be just as big if given the same amount of TLC.

Yeah I hope this game gets made. A lot of people liked Black. I was a bit 'meh' but I think a second one will build on the first and change some of the things that were missing.

That's also why Killzone 2 should be better than the first: if they learn from their mistakes there's no reason why Black 2 or Killzone 2 can't be so much better.

As much as I hope you are right and know how Criterion works, I have to say this right now; let's not hype the game too much and set us all up for disappointment. I personal would rather this game stay under the radar and just be produced with the utmost care and integrity that Criterion has put into their other games. I loved BLACK and still play it and a sequel would make me pee my pants.

6 - black was fun on PS2, and criterion did an awesome job.
there first game on PS3 being burnout paradise looked awesome. if they lead on PS3 which they will , then it's a guarantee Black 2 will look awesome. I dont think though any multiplatform game can comepete in the graphics department with KZ2. or uncharted 2 for that matter. i do how ever see them getting in the realms of COD4 or even a little better. maybe in the ball park of gears 1, and i say ball park. Gears 1 and 2 are untouchable for the 360's graphics. and thats all ready been done with UT3 on PS3.

fyi sony is giving 150.00 off the purchase of a ps3 on the sony card and 0% interest for a year. let your parent know and then santa can bring you (ps3) and your parents(BLU-RAY) something worthwhile for christmas.

With TimeSplitters, Black was one of the best console-adapted FPS. This is a very good news, if they're not planning a Burnout sequel or continuing with EA's Need For Speed series.

So true MK. Black is one of the 3 "fps's" (some like Dues Ex i count as fps because it's a hybrid) that i actually like/love. It was all about the guns and was action packed. CoD4 kind of reminded me of black because of the awesome reload animations and heavy emphasis on the guns.

Awesome call on COD4's reload animations but still, COD4 wasn't the pure arcade fun that was Black. It was indeed among the best of last generation's FPS games and was only rejected by some because it didn't have a multiplayer.
Hopefully Black 2 happens one day.

Definitely true. I remember the last level in black in that prison was HELL on hard mode. Hell even on normal it was a b****. Such an amazing game but like you said it got flak for not having online.

Also if i remember correctly if you had a certain number of kills on the hardest difficulty with a certain weapon you'd unlock the gold plated version of that weapon.

the level in Black was a b!tch , I remember trying to kill that dude way on the other side..and kept getting blown up....I actually did unlock the Gold Weapons and Black Ops Mode...XD

Haha so did I. I was jumping around when i finally got the Gold Uzi. And wasn't there 2 guys hiding behind that concrete door? I thought it was two.

Also i remember the farm level. Where it was dead quiet. And then you'd go into one of the houses and the enemies would just FLOOD around you. They would be everywhere. Black had some amazing moments.

I would LOVE to see a Black 2. I was hoping that Battlefield BC would be the spiritual successor, but I was heavily disappointed by that game.

Black... such a well-made shooter, i think COD4 drew some inspiration from it

i'd love for this to be true.... but i think people are too quick to claim it would look better than Killzone 2.... it's a multiplat game, those never look as good as exclusives

This will be a monster of a shooter as Criterions on of the best developers out their.

I'd go as far as to say Black was for the Ps2/xbox as CoD4 is for the Ps3/360

Criterion - as did Infinity Ward - just knows how to tap in the core of real world shooters.

So Black2 will be a real beast .... and optimized for and likely developed on, the other Black Beast.

Can wait.
