Probably figured its time to sell some games instead of making crap, actually the only DQ game I've played is by Level-5 (Dragon Quest 8). So I can't even tell if this is gonna turn out good since Square Enix is gonna make it.

Good news to wii owners and nintendo. I'm gonna be like most of these sad fanboys that throw their toys out of the pram everytime something doesn't get a realease on the ps3. The HD have done nothing to advance the RPG genre this gen except bring pretier graphics so i'll be happy to give square the chance to see if they can advance the genre with a next gen control system.

And I simply couldn't bring myself to go any further. It was one of the most boring games I've played in recent memory.

And I really tried to enjoy the game. I must've started a new file 3 or 4 times over the course of a year, each time getting a bit further, but finally I just gave up.

anyway, i the drought of RPGs for Wii DQ10 is a good addtion, just hope it stays with the classic mechanic, it was ankward to play DQ swords...

Dragon Quest 8 was develop by Level 5(White Knight Developers) and that was the best JRPG Square Enix has release in the pass 10 years personally for me. If it not being made by Level 5, then F@#K it.

Level 5 really made DQ8. Which is why it was such a fantastic game that put DQ on/back on the map. Aside from whoever is on the Final Fantasy team it seems SE can't really pull off anything special, or that good anyway. So DQ+SE=lackluster imho. They might be able to pull off an ok game, but Wii? Leaves me having no interest. PS360 for me. And I'd be willing to bet DQ will hit the bargain bin w/in a couple months on the Wii because Wii gamers, aside from the Core few, just aren't interested in this kind of game, or so it seems imo.............

Hmmm...mixed emotions right now.The new Dragon Quest on Wii is an honor and great for keeping my Wii but without Level 5 making it...I'll wait and see.

edit:Agreed.Hell Level 5 took an unknown franchise in the west and made it good enough to sell hundreds of thousands of copies.I think that Square Enix and Sony could benefit so much if either one of them buys or merges with Level 5.Hopefully someone like Level 5 is making DQX and not a crap developer like Cavia.

The hardcore have known about Dragon Quest when it was Dragon warrior here...Also I am sure many people bought this game without caring about Level 5s involvement. I know I didnt buy it for those reasons. It was because it was my first chance to play a new DragonQuest(Warrior) in many years

the biggest complaint about the wii is its graphical capabilities now in this case it is its greatest strength.The release date of 2013-1014 would be realistic if they were developing the game for hd consoles not the wii.It does not take that long to make a game for the wii.The hardware isn't that powerful that you need to spend a lot of mony or time develpoing extremely detailed assets for the game as you would have to on either the ps3 or 360.

And in reply to another comment i read earlier.Atlus will most likely not have person 5 on the ps3 because of development costs if it wanted to get it on there it would have done so already or made some announcement.Atlus isn't big enough to incur the costs of developing for the HD consoles.And every one of their 360 releases have been tagged as having sub-standard graphics which won't do much better on the ps3 as its more complex and time consuming to program for.The ps3 doesn't have a lead.Atlus will stick to ps2 wii and handheld development for the foreseeable future most likely unless there si a hug change in the current global economic status.

FFCC says hello from 3 years of development..With nothing to show for it..I'd say with an announcement now the game is already in the works. If they really try to use the Wii to its fullest and not just crappy PS2 graphics then it will take some time.. If FFCC ever sees the light of day it will be a good indication of how DQ10 will be.

Consoles have ALWAYS been about graphics, and stepping them up each generation. The difference between a PS2 and an xbox last gen was NOTHING compared to the difference between a Wii and PS3. Just looking at the visuals on Wii games makes my stomach spasm. It's like we are going backwards, next gen we'll be back to cartridges! I'll be skipping DQ10.

Of course, the Dragon Quest series has never really been the pinnacle of storytelling in the first place, but Journey of the Cursed King is particularly basic when it comes to the narrative. Truth be told, it's mostly generic RPG fare the majority of the way through, and it's certainly among the most predictable stories I've seen in quite some time (minus two or three little twists). Er, Enix never developed a DQ title in house. They always outsourced the work. Level 5 helped to bring the title into the modern era, so they did a lot for the franchise. Add to the fact that they are probably one of the best Japanese RPG developers around, and you can't help but give them props.

but yeah your edited comment isn't too nice.For one the wii being a lower spec machine won't need quite as much space to hold the entire game.Twilight princess with its realistic art style could fit onto a 1.5 gb disc and the game was 60-70 hours long whcih is good length.Thw wii has 8.5 gb i believe on its optical disc which easily allows for a lot of content much more than a game developed for the 360 could.so its nto a fair comaparison.

And in what world is it true that if you don't support a particular console you aren't a hardcore gamer? The ds has more games and more hardcore games than the psp.yet people here call the ds a casual crappy system purely based on its graphical capabilities. There are lots of people out there who love gaming, but does it mean they ahve to give up their har earned cash just to enjoy once in while or a few hours every day.After the system is bought , you have to throw in the money for each game which is expensive. And there are far too few games that more than one person in a family can enjoy.the ps3 isn't a social console and it is stuck with it for a while.I have nothing against the ps3 just to amke that clear.

edit: and this is an hinest question that i don't think has ever gotten agood enough answer....How has HD and the higher spec of the ps3 allowed it to push gaming boundaries? I honestly don't see it.Blu ray allows for more data, i see that but don't see how high resolution is oushing gaming boundaries or better physiscs even for that matter.Are your games more fun because the crates and barrels explode with realistic physics? A game built around physics yeah thats good and that been done last gen too. smarter Ai, haven't really seen that one yet, evn in force unleahsed or gta 4 with their advanced engines that were so hyped. I still manage to kill of the nemies just as easily as ever.

Think of any game they released on PS2 and it could have been better had it been put on GC or Xbox since both were clearly superior to it. That didnt hurt those games at all. It wont hurt them this gen either.
