PS3clan.nl: Evidence that PS2 games are coming for the Playstation Store

ESRB has just done a rating of Rayman 2 revolution and Medal of Honor.
The thing that's special about that is Rayman 2 Revolution. It's a Playstation 2 game. What kinda proofs that Sony is planning on releasing Playstation 2 games on the Playstation store.

What about the PStriples out there without BC? Could pure Software BC be on the way? Maybe, but I doubt it tho.

well, sony did say that they were going to do it eventually but it wasnt a priority. i guess now that PS2 games are comming they will release it. it shouldnt be too hard; just update the emulator to play the games on the PSN, pack the updates with the PS2 game installs so you dont need to download the upates sepretly.

1.3 - What well Iamtehpwn being playing with his BC Ps3 if true?
*hops on Piano and plays To Zanarkand*

:]

It's probably true. If Microsoft could emulate Xbox 1 on 360, all software emulation, then Sony can emulate PS2 on Ps3.

1.4 - I wouldn't put it past Sony...
Full emulation is on the way. But not for a while, they gotta get PS3 games selling a little better.

The thing that gets me is that there is talk about PS2 tittle coming to the PS3 yet the PSN doesn't have that many PS titles to begin with.

I want to play FF7 damn it. I never got to, know I feel like I'm missing out : (

@remember....

You missed out on one Hell of a game. Go get it on ebay or at a pawn shop or something. It's like 10 bucks, if that.

1.6 - $10?
try $70. It's uber rare to find. Very expensive.

Not that rare, I bought it at my local pawn for 10 bucks. The original MGS for 3 dollars...

They had a Magnavox Odyssey there for 25 bucks though... I've seen it(FFVII) at Gamestop and Gamecrazy also. Even EB Games or Game XChange..but damn it is expensive on eBay.

Hmm.. I have two versions. The original black label, and the green one. Perhaps I should sell one... lol

One could only guess they would add trophies to many of these games. Would say this should have been done a lot earlier.

I might download a few but most good games are so cheap. God of War, Kingdom Hearts, FFX, RE4, all you can get $15 brand new at walmart bargain bin.

"try $70. It's uber rare to find. Very expensive."

So close. It is usually about 70 bucks if you buy from online sellers (amazon.com, ebay, etc.). Very expensive indeed. However, it's not uber rare or hard to find. In fact, it's one of the most common PSone games. The fact that so many people these days pay an arm and a leg for a ridiculously common game is the reason I stopped collecting videogames. Value became about some abstract bullcrap and not about actual rarity.

Soul calibur 3, Final fantasy x, Met al gear solid 2&3, Killzone, devil may cry 1,2,3, dynasty warriors 3 and gta3.

I'm still waiting for my darn ps1 classics to hit the ps store.
I really want the original digimon world, the unholy war, circuit breakers and r-type delta to hit the uk store.

Final Fantasy X on the PSN please, ohhh Metal Gears 2 +3 wouldn't go amiss either.

In the same vein, FFVII/FFVIII/FFIX should make an appearance also.

EDIT @ above: Hehe, I didn't copy your suggestions, honestly.

I want to play all the blockbuster PS2 games because I never owned a PS2. I played a few minutes of various games when my old roommate had a PS2, however it sucks that the newer PS3s don't have BC. Shame on you, SONY!

Same. Always been keen to own ICO/SotC, but my unit - only model available in this country unfortunately - doesn't allow it.

Frankly i think getting rid of the backwards compatibility in the first place was a big blunder. I mean, if you've got 140 million install base why on Earth not do everything possible to leverage it?

True. Then there are the people who say "buy a PS2, they're dirt cheap" but I could buy 5 or 6 used PS2 games for the price of a PS2 and I don't want another machine under my TV. I don't have the shelf space.

PS2 has thousands of game..dude..I own a PS3 but my PS2 is right beside my PS3 even though I have a 60GB PS3..I rather play PS2 on my PS2...

so if you are gonna diss someone for wanting to play PS2 games then obviously ur not a real gamer cuz PS2 has better gaming experiences than what available for next gen consoles...

Can't wait to see what games they will throw into the mix for those who don't have BC and may or may not be regretting it. Either way, whether the person wants to or not it would be good for Sony to at least have the titles up on the Playstation store just in case, as you never know.

15 - if they add BC to all consoles
They will start selling a ton of PS3's. Thats the only thing stopping a lot of people. Think about it they could charge $15 or $10 for the game unless you have the disc then charge 2 bucks for the emulation code make some $$ and sell more consoles all while making customers happy. They would be stupid not to IMO

Eh, you do know Rayman 2 was on PS1 as well?

Edit: Although... it says Rayman Revolution on the ERSB site, I'm fairly certain that's a misprint due to the fact the PSP can't emulate PS2 games at all.

Actually, if you scroll down to the original Rayman Revolution entry it says:

Dreamcast, PlayStation/PS one, Playstation 2

Under platforms.

It's the PS1 game, no story here.

Don't know what ps2 game you are thinking of but I just downloaded burnout paradise a ps3 game and it was only 3.5Gb. I dont think you will get many ps2 games that will be larger then that.
