GC 2008: EA Announces New Wii Tennis Title

Tennis game will feature Wimbledon, use Wii MotionPlus

Ubisoft loves the WiiMotion Plus, LucasArts not so much. So where does Electronic Arts stand on the new Wii peripheral? Just ask EA Sports vice president Peter Moore.

At EA's Games Convention press conference Wednesday, Peter Moore announced a new sports title simply called Tennis (for now). Developed by EA Canada, it will be making use of the WiiMotion Plus and exclusively featuring All England Lawn Tennis Club, home of the Wimbledon Championships, as a playable venue.

Cool stuff. They still need to make a Wii Sports successor for a tennis game along with adding the ability to move your characters. Hope EA has it figured out :)

Has EA ever tackled a tennis game before? 2009 is shaping up to be Wii's break out year.
