2 - Cry me a river.
The GTA series went from cult classic to one of the best selling series in the world. 'powerful people' don't seem to have done anything to GTA in the last 10 years.

'Hot Coffee"? They totally got away with it.

3 - But that's true for many companies
Someone will always want you out of business. If you're in competition with someone, and you're better than them someway, somehow, then yeah more often than not, they'd like nothing more than you gone.

That's just a fact of life. Not just game companies, but for the most part all of us want our own competitors gone when we are striving for something.
