“We (Ninja Theory) never started work on HS2 as we wanted to focus on new multiplatform IP. Sony owns the IP for HS and we have never been privy to what they would do with it"

So work hasn't been cancelled on heavenly sword, it was never started!

2.6 - Sony owns the IP
and there is potential for that series. Just, as someone said before, focus on making a game and not a movie. Cut scenes are ancillary to the game itself imo. MGS4 is a prime example. The cutscenes compliment the gameplay. When the cutscenes are the star and the gameplay takes a backseat then something is wrong, i.e. Heavenly Sword.

I think this series is just ripe for an RPG like overhaul. In fact, I think the first one should have been an RPG. Would have probably done better as PS3 owners are RPG starved.

More Kotaku anti Ps3 Propaganda. At least they quashed this rebellion before it got started.

Much like a 10 year old that has been denied an Oreo Cookie, they're still bitter about it.

5 - Sorry, but...
Heavenly Sword ended and that is that. If they never make another one then I am fine with that. What would they do? A prequel? A sequel?

Talk was of a prequel. I liked the game and wished it would of been longer, but i dont know if I would play 2 unless it had the same cinematic feeling.

Doesn't the sword still exists? So they can make a sequel that revolves around the one who or might inherit the Heavenly sword. Actually then can make dozens of HS games with that concept.

It would be easy to make several other HS titles. It's a game about a sword, just tweak the gameplay a bit and change to another hot girl in a different period in time and there you have it. Easy. There are a lot of things they could do to improve on the first one, although I like the first one.

In the rumor they do say that the Sony Cambridge team was working on the sequal and not Ninja Theory so there may have been some truth to this rumor.

Since when did people begin thinking work had started on HS2?

Sony, nor NT ever said anything of the sort. It was idiots who started speculating.

IMO, Heavenly Sword is best left where it ended. Great game for those who were privileged enough to experience it, but a sequel....well, I don't think I would enjoy it as much knowing how the story of Nuriko ends.

Personally i think sony is investing more money into games with online ability. Lets be truthful, most of you wouldn't buy a game with no online mode. It would have to be a game like bioshock to ever get me to consider a purchase.

11 - just for the record
Even kotaku themselves say in the rumor, that NT is not working on HS2.

The rumor is about Hs2 and Sony cambridge not NT.

Also NT said on GAF that they indeed have left the building -> that was part of the Kotaku rumor. Go figure.

12 - HS is far from our thoughts at the moment.
Well, the game had a definite ending that wasn't a cliffhanger, so there's no rush for a sequel
