after the expensive abortion the first two getaways were, i can understand sonys caution. coupled with the fact that killzone is eating more money than any other....sony have made a sound decision imo.
the getaway is never going tobe nothing more than a paupers gta anyway.

I only wish. SCEE said they have been canned. Permanently. No revival. That doesn't rule out the possibility, but for now it is.

The same studio working on those games is also working on Home. Home is obvious too big a project to mess up now, so Eight Days and Getaway needed to take a break to shift resources to Home.
They're not going to give up on so much work now.

Exactly. If they mess up Home, I'm sure a certain company would be there to make fun of them for doing so.

4 - ... may be they are right.
for sure they have their own reasons..
and I think they wont put all of their efforts for those titles in trash after finishing their project..so hope to see both titles in future. :)
but Im curious whats that more important project! (more than the Gateway and 8 days! )

8 - My question now is, WTF is Sony London working on now?
As much money as was presumably pumped into these two projects, as much buzz as they both created, and more importantly, the man-hours just tossed aside, wtf is going to happen now? Just start working on something else?
I'm not implying that this news is false, I'd just like a better explanation, and a follow up on what they're doing now. I can't imagine that the studio is merely sitting their hands.

9 - Argh
Apointing a Japanese person was a bad move, they have no understanding of western games or western demand for Online, I can see things like Home taking a turn for the worst now without Phil's vision driving it.

10 - posted in another thread from me.......
although i believe that it was a poor decision to cancel 8 days,
i do believe that one of the titles should have been cancelled.and that it should have been the getaway.but work continued to finish 8 days and release it.but not getting any new info,i can't say if it was going to be a great game or not.moving on,they should be salvaging the products and adding the content to other games and services.
we have seen getaway content added to GT5 as a track.they could just added more areas to race in so that the money and time to produce those assets aren't wasted.
how about adding LONDON as a HOME area to shop and give people an idea what it's like to be there without being there?cut it in sections if need be.
adding people and cars from getaway to other future games.
adding 8 days vehicle damage to some future game.but "something." not just give up altogether.
but i believe this man thinks london studios is the leader in sony's push for casual gaming and want to expand on it.BUZZ,SINGSTAR,EYETOY,PSEYE, LBP(media molecule is being helped)etc.,have come from this studio.all have sold millions(or will with LBP) and the masses still want more from these products.and more like it.
so,even if I COULD CARELESS for online gaming over single player,it makes sense to push forward with getting HOME out the door sooner than later.connecting this new "ALWAYS CONNECTED SOCIETY" that loves cell phones, texting and sending each other content like pictures.
so if this guy can bring new things to the table like the pseye SCAN and CREATE games(see the video),XMB control with camera(see the video),remote play casual gaming through PS3 from anywhere using psp and maybe a VR headset to go with the rumored breakable controller.....
i could live with the decision to cancel what looked like 2, potentially good games.but it's funny how 360 gamers who now have ps3s care all of a sudden when they hated what sony was doing before just a year ago......kewlkat.........
apocalypse.........

11 - From my understanding...
... not everything was good between Phil and "the higher-ups".
Maybe Phil left because de decision was already made to cancle these two games (and other decisions). So Phil felt like leaving Sony.
Or like people are saying. These games didn't have Phil support anymore, so they were canceled.
And maybe now Team ICO will only make games for Japan. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Oh right, so Sony actually have meetings and decide their actions, I figured one guy just pulled them out of a hat.
Of course it was a global decision, Sony are a global company. VG247 have an uncanny ability to change a line of inconsequential text into news.

Another awesome move on Sony's part. Maybe they can replace these two exclusive games with some watered down multiplatform 3rd party support.

What they'll release will sell even more than these games. 2 BD movies. That's why my movie...game is more movie less game. We are targetting majority of ps3 owners.
