2 - You wonder.
If this Wii Fit (designed by a japanese company) has scaled their calculation to be more suitable for other cultures? (as in their builds and physique)

you know leave it to the 'I'm offended I'll sue you' group of people to harass a video game that does nothing then make you think about your health. Well done you have earned the nomination of biggest deuce in the world

3.1 - Dude...
You apparently have no experience with 10-16 year old girls. A lot of them are going through their "time" and can be hugely and overly emotional. So whenever this game is telling them they are fat they take it as that and it could lead to other problems such as anorexia and bulimia.

It wouldn't have been hard at all for Nintendo to include some disclaimer saying that BMI is not an accurate way to address a person's physical health, in a matter of fact I'm sure it does somewhere, just not anywhere noticeable.

But until you have children or siblings who are affected by something as simple as someone saying they are fat, you shouldn't criticize people for protecting their loved ones from unneeded trauma. You have to think about it from their point of view.

Sorry for the super serious post.

I don't think this is news. It's just an article about a "nobody" who over-reacts after he was shown information about a parent and child's reaction to an assumption that BMI is accurate for children.

BMI is NOT accurate for anyone younger than puberty or for those who are hugely overweight.

With Wii Fit, Nintendo is pretty much assuming that everyone using it is "average" or "normal" in health because, hey, that's the majority.

i'm sure like wii sports somewhere on there it says that this is not accurate for anyone under 21.. i was suprised when i saw that on WII SPORTS but makes sense..

besides this is a game.. its not a professional trainer that can spend a lot of tim eon you to determine all these HEALTH NUMBERS through a lot of tests.. its just a game that makes you think about getting fit.

BTW didn't XBOX have a fitness game where you just play along with the lady on screen?

which happens to also be a PS2 game http://www.amazon.com/RESPO...

But if Nintendo makes a game like it then it's just wrong for the industry...

5.2 - Its exactly like Brain Age!!
Just like you said... It wont be accurate for people under 21... AS long as they state that somewhere in the game i dont think this should be that big of a deal!

blah blah blah

The only joke is people who think this game is only for obese people and that it's a replacement for real exercise. This is just a fitness guide or something to make you think about your health.

8 - Waist size vs. BMI
I think is some cases waist size is a better judgment in "overweight" characterization

With BMI muscles are not factored into the equation, as muscles weigh a lot more than fat
