PSP continues to rule Japanese Hardware sales for 21/4 - 27/4

''It's the same old story. Boy meets Monster Hunter. Boy buys Monster Hunter. Boy buys PSP. We lose interest in the dreadfully boring and stable Japanese hardware market. Can't someone by 60,000 Xbox 360s and mix it up over there? We're getting tired of seeing that giant black mass dominate the Media Create hardware charts! Oh well. Maybe we'll feel better pointing out a PS3 sales blip on the release of Valkyria Chronicles and dreadful Xbox 360 numbers. Nope. That didn't help.''

I think Kotaku shouldn't concern themselves with 360 in Japan. Nintendo and Sony have this market pretty locked. It's pretty much over for Microsoft there this generation. :)

To me, Japan doesnt matter anymore. Their playing habits are not a reflection of what the industry came to power being. They are buying a novelty console (Wii) and handhelds.

i was hoping for 150k at least. those kinda games(jrpg) help hardware sales in japan. and if they don't sell well we won't see any more of them on ps3.

i think the ps3 is going to do the same as the psp did. slow start and then rule them all. i think its still to expensive for Japan.

6 - If the PSP had a 7meg camera and phone functions
it would be dominating the portable electronics market. Here's hoping Sony realizes this for the PSP2.

Good luck for Sony, an achievement as any. But I remain pessimistic here: Japanese seem to buy it for other things than for gaming... Or that's the feeling I've gotten as of late after taking a peek at the software numbers. Do not understand why.
