Update: Exclusive GTAIV PlayStation 3 Bundle confirmed for Europe

" We've been hearing rumors about this for a couple of weeks now, but it appears that we are one step closer to getting an answer. Based on the evidence so far presented, it looks like Europe will be getting an official Grand Theft Auto 4 + PlayStation 3 Bundle."

Update:Gaming-age administrator, Jim, has confirmed the rumor in a forum post on NeoGAF:

"And while I haven't heard from Sony yet, I HAVE heard from some people in the Euro distribution channel who have corroborated that it's a real bundle. No other info yet. So it's of course not "official".

Well it takes a little edge off the ps3 price difference and it associates the grand theft auto game with playstation 3 more than 360. However, i still say a 50 dollar price cut would have better sealed the victory. You really cannot underestimate the casual gamer who will be buying an arcade unit simply because that is all he can afford.

@eagle eyes. If they want to catch up to the 360 and sail past the wii, then yes...price drop is really needed

Dont expect any price drop any time before august or even X-mas time, Sony have finally started selling decent numbers, in almost every region, and more importantly for them, they are starting to make profits, price drop is not REALLY needed at this time. imo anyways.

One of my workmate's friend (who got a refund after 3rd dead xbox) is planning to get ps3 "as long it is bundle with GTA4". He will be a very happy man.

after loosing GTA IV exlcusivity and DLC. This is the least they could F*cken do. I hope they paid Rockstar to get this exclusive bundle.

Now if only they got it for the US also. But maybe it's too much to ask.

They didn't "loose" or lose anything. Rockstar themselves said Sony knew about it, and agreed with Rockstar to let them go multiplatform in exchange for future exclusive titles.

And I'm tired of PC being called a "Microsoft Platform" - just becasue it's running a MS operating system.

Look at the Dreamcast, it was running a variant of Windows CE ( http://www.microsoft.com/pr... - does that make it a MICROSOFT PLATFORM? Microsoft had no control over the games that came out for it, and they didn't get royalties from game sales either. Thus, the Dreamcast is considered a Sega platform, not a Microsoft platform.

Now replace "Dreamcast" with "PC" and you have essentially the same situation : the PC isn't a Microsoft platform just because you are using a Microsoft OS. No amount of name-calling or sarcasm will change that fact. PC is a FREE GAMING PLATFORM. It doesn't belong to Microsoft anymore than it does Intel or Nvidia.

They figure in the United Stated, they're gonna get rammed regardless.

So go after Europe atleast.

Also, there was suppose to be a 360 price cut to go with GTA IV people said.

So far no 360 price cut for the US, just Europe.

So who knows, maybe both are just waiting.

I think its a matter of being comfortable with that sub-par product. I am sure no one would pick a sub-par product unless they are comfortable with it. I have a nephew in the states and i asked him why he put up with is problem ridden x360 and he said that he is comfortable with it as he could easily replace it where he lives. However where i live the idea of a buying a sub-par product is nuts as warrenty is not pratical where i live. I also believe Live is a very, very big factor why the x360 is big in NA.

Maybe the american culture is just so used to doing what its told? Dont get me wrong, I love the yanks, the people anyway. Hell we aint all speakin japanese or german mainly thanks to you guys, but the US of A seems to me like its sleeping again. People are just doing what they are told. I guess its hard not to with a rooted economy and such, but man. Imo, the country with the greatest potential to do good things and really change the world. Its sad to see it in this phase its going through. Back on your feet America.

there is no doubt in my mind this will sell like crazy but i think that with a price drop for the 360 coming to america and gta being the most popular in america, it may just help the 360 more.

but at the same time, sometimes i wonder if people will get a ps3 for gta even if it is more expensive. i swear to you guys, nobody that i talk besides on this site knows the 360 even has DLC. and second, i know 2 people who are getting gta for thier ps3 and they have a 360. why? probably because thier use to it on a playstation.

also, thier was this man at gamestop and he was buying a game for his 360 and the employee asked him if he wanted to preorder gta for the 360 and the man responded "nah i already have it pre ordered for my ps3" and the employee was curious so he asked why, and the man replied...."because im use to it on playstation"

now you guys can say im lying if you like but it really doesnt matter to me because these are true stories that im telling you, you would be surprised at how many people are loyal. we will see though.

personally, im actually changing my belief in saying the 360 will sell more consoles and saying the ps3 because of the stories that i've heard. i know certain people dont want to believe but thier are people that are loyal to the playstation brand. now my cousin is getting a ps3 for gta. i'll let you guys know his id when he gets it.

They might be saving the MGS4 and GTAIV bundle for the states or they will come here along the lines.

If memory serves correctly, Shane from did say that, there would be a bundle coming to the US one month after the game's launch so that might be true for US. Europe is getting theirs faster thats all.

What makes it exclusive, since there is also a 360 GTA IV bundle?

If I was getting a console to play GTA IV I'd get the 360 bundle. Not only is it a helluva lot cheaper, but you also get features like rumble and component cables out of the box. Not to mention the exclusive content coming out. A win-win if you ask me.
