I put my HD-DVD add on up for sale today and have a guy coming to buy it. From there I went and bought the 80GB PS3. I do notice it is louder than the 40GB model, but hey .... who cares since the 40GB was stupid quiet.

I had about 5 HD-DVD's I got from Christmas that LUCKY for me, I didn't open yet so FutureShop gave me store credit and I bought some blu-ray movies.

I always said .... THE SECOND I KNOW BR is the winner, a PS3 will be bought. So now my PS3 sits next to me 360. I am in game bliss now knowing that I have the best of both worlds. Now bring on KZ2 and LBP.

M$ will probably make a BluRay player add-on, and complicate stuff even more. If they do that, and then make a bundle offer (360 + BD add-on) for ~350$/EUR (or anything below 400$/EUR), they could give Sony/PS3 a serious run for its money.

Sony, on the other hand, has made it - their "trojan horse" worked. The power of PlayStation brand was the deciding factor in HD format war. The sales will, most likely, jump.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say that I was the one who wrote this and I had no intention of bashing the 360. I have been a frequent visitor of this site and thought that I should start submitting my own writings here as well. Playstationblog.net is not a fanboy site. Me and a few friends made it because we felt like honoring a brand that has given us 10 years of great gaming. I have never bought consoles other than Playstation so you will have to forgive me if I sound "fanboyish". Im merely excited for what 08 brings for not just the PS3, but the entirety of the industry. 2007 software wise wasn't as bad as people are saying.Relatively to the x360 yes but that was the problem. People keep comparing the PS3 lineup to x360 which actually had its best year last year with Halo3, Bioshock and ME.The notion that the PS3 had no AAA is all subjective. Last year alone i bought 10 PS3 games and i have enjoyed all of them immensely so i find it frustrating when xbox fanboys(Not the x360 fans) keep claiming that the PS3 have no games when there were already more than 50 games avaliable for PS3. This year is going to be a different story. Looking at this guy/gal list i think i must start saving right now.

R&C:FToD and Uncharted is the best games I have for my PS3 as of now. HS was just so-so in my NSHO. Uncharted though....gaahrrglll...it's great. *cough* So good, I wanted to play it once more right away. FF-X is my next game to be compared to it.

2008 may indeed be a good year for the PS3, but the author of this blog should rely more on what is true than what is supposition...

Case in point - can you really see gamers walking around their virtual "Home" gawking at their medals or trophies? Is this a system selling point? He should discuss the integration features and the connectivity of Home more instead of talking about medals. Achievements and trophies are great, but they are secondary to good games in which to earn them...

As for Blu-Ray, it certainly seems poised to win the format war, but that doesn't mean exclusivity for all digital downloads from Blu-Ray supporters for PS3. In fact, 360 Marketplace has many titles from Disney and 20th Century Fox, both of the Blu-Ray camp. The only studios that you won't find on Marketplace due to restrictions are the Sony-owned/partnered ones (Columbia, Tri-Star and MGM/UA)...

On a side note, Mass Effect may have been developed by BioWare, but it was released by Microsoft Game Studios. I'm not sure if the IP for the series as a whole is exclusive, but the first game (ME) certainly is...

2008 may be up for grabs, but Sony has a lot of work to do - Nintendo and Microsoft have so far made them a distant third, and if they want to gain a bigger market share, they're gonna need more than Blu-Ray, Home, and a few exclusives that may or may not sell more PS3s...

I think the Xbox bridge is crumbling. Next year, there is already a bunch of exclusives that will be amazing. These are the ones that are already announced. Xboxs line up seems weak to me. But I will have to see. Now bluray is going forward, ps3 sales will jump. Then more on the psn, making Home more effective. Thats what I say. And I hope MS releases a new console, so it can still be inferior to the ps3(fanboy injected haha). Do my eyes deceive me or did you post some good news for PS3? Well.... a blog in favor of the PS3. Anyways, I do think the 360 is doomed this year, but the thing is... Just because Blu-Ray won the format war(well, will win) doesn't always necessarily mean the console will win. I mean, sure it will help the console, but doesn't mean it will win. I am positive the PS3 will win the console war, but Warner choosing the BluBerry pie rather than the Raspberry pie doesn't mean it'll win. In anycase, I look forward to the PS3 this year. I'm "dissing" all rap music. Rap has single handedly turned generations of kids into dropouts, wiggers, drug dealers, and "ho" slappers... and this is coming from a 15 year old. Sheit...coming here you would think the ps3 was 1st I guess this blog here is confirmation of what many xbox 360 fans knew from the start...and 2008 MIGHT be the year of sony but dont think for one minute the xbox 360 will be as complacent as sony was launching the ps3....there will be plenty of games coming along..now the trick is for you ps3 owners too buy games for your system..we buy them for ours.....With its low price and one of the most wanted games coming out soon it will still be the wii dominating both next gen consoles in 2008. also the guy in the blog speaks of last year which im pointing out.

For the PS3 alone. No. why?.For 2007 i got to play HS,Uncharted,RC,COD4,AC,Motors torm,NGS,Oblivion,FNR3 and The darkness. Yes these are the games i bought last year. On top this i got updates through firmware updates. PS3 on its own was great.The x360 without a doubt had a much better 2007 but this does not mean that the PS3 had a suck year. You are speaking relatively to x360 but PS3 on it own no. It had a great year. Anyways this blog is about 2008. Why should we talk about 2007?. Also disregard the wii as a next gen console as obviously it will never be able to handle next gen games like MGS4.The wii is not in competition with x360 and PS3 until we loose dev support and userbase to the wii which sofar i think it not happening.

When MGS, FF, GT will be relleased, at least 10% of ps2 userbase are die hard fans of any of this games and will make the jump to PS3. And 10%=15mill people (almost). Add to that the people who are interested in a PS3 for other reasons and the number will get close to 20mill units sold in 2008.
There`s no denial the MGS, FF and GT are huge games amongst ps2 comunity, just look at the total sales, and 10% is a bitt of an understatment.

This is one of the main reason why i still believe that the PS3 will still win in the end. The Massive PS2 userbase will most certianly want to play returning franchises on the PS3 when they arrive. The same as x360 fans when they bought x360 in droves for halo3. For PS3 not only 1 game but 3 major games not including others just as big such as GOW3,ICO2,Killzone 2 etc. If you look at the big 3 for PS3. MGS is a 3rd person Action stealth, FF is a RPG and GT is a racing series. The PS brand will always have varied proven game franchise that appeals to various gamers from different regions. This will always guarantee them success every generation.

Edit:Yep.I am sure the x360 will still sell but not as much as last year.

And i know the 360 sales wont just slow to a halt, but is more likely that ps2 users will pick a ps3 over the 360 due to those games, to continue playing the series. 360 might have some good games coming out as well this year but those are not games to attract the mass ps2 userbase. And with such huge army of ps2 users backing up the ps3, it`s just logic to think that the ps3 will win gen.

i just really hope for no delays. and when home comes out, the playstation network will spread like a house fire. i think sony will have a big smile on their faces when their paychecks come to their door. as for us, (the customer) we will have all the games we been waiting for. PS3 FTW! =]

i think 360 has some surprises for us in 2008, MS give us a great 2007 ending, and they are goin to do it again, RARE still has to come up with incredible games, not to mention bioshock2, gears of war2, fable2, jade empire2, ninja gaiden2, halo wars, killer instinct, alan wake, just to name a few.

Sure I own a PS3 but I'm not going to be playing it for 10 years and I know for a fact that alot of you guys will say you will but you won't. I will play my PS3 and 360 for 6 years max and by that time I will start playing it less and less.
