VG Chartz: Preliminary Japanese Sales for the Week Ending Nov. 18, 2007

VG Chartz is still compiling weekly data for Japan. Here is an early take on how some of the figures will look for the week ending November 18, 2007. These figures are preliminary and should not to be taken as gospel; they are just an early take on approximately where the market will be for the week. Estimates are in units sold.

Hardware sale estimates:
• DS: ~80,000
• PSP: 50,000 to 58,000
• PS3: 45,000 to 75,000
• Wii: 30,000 to 40,000
• PS2: 8,000 to 12,000
• Xbox 360: 4,000 to 7,000

Wii software sale estimates:
• Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (Total): ~100,000
• Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (without the Wii Zapper): 63,000 to 70,000
• Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (bundled with the Wii Zapper): 25,000 to 30,000
• Super Mario Galaxy: 24,000 to 28,000

PS3 software sale estimates:
• Dynasty Warriors 6: 56,000 to 64,000
• Heavenly Sword: 9,000 to 13,000
• Ratchet & Clank Future: 4,000 to 7,000

Xbox 360 software sale estimates:
• Dynasty Warriors 6: 10,000 to 13,000

PS2 software sale estimates:
• Metropolitan Police 2: 8,000 to 12,000
• Armored Calvary Bottom: 6,000 to 10,000
• Ar Tonelico: 3,000 to 5,000
• Volleyball Worldcup Evolution of Venus: 3,000 to 5,000

PSP software sale estimates:
• Monster Hunter Portable 2: 8,000 to 10,000
• Covenant Door: 4,000 to 8,000
• Akumajou Dracula X Chronicle: 4,000 to 8,000

DS software sale estimates:
• Mario Party DS: 110,000 to 130,000
• Game Center CX: 40,000 to 48,000
• Famitsa DS: 28,000 to 34,000
• Drum Master: 24,000 to 28,000
• Final Fantasy Tactics A2: 9,000 to 12,000

Dynasty Warriors 6 sold over 100k the first week and is still going strong. I feel bad for Ratchet but it may bounce back after DW6 fever comes down. Ouch to the 360 once again but it is Japan after all.

They sure love their DW there in japan. Its early numbers from vgchartz but they are usually in the ballpark. Though REUC if thats true damn. If the numbers in japan(assuming these are not far off) continue or atleast dont slow down its a good sign for sony in japan. Suprised at how low SMG is selling in japan.

Didn't you see how last month, it was not even close. This means nothing, I'm a PS3 fan. But this is fake wether it's good or bad news.

OMG just shut up finally, wake up to the facts.

The 360 is still selling GREAT at easily around 7000 units a week, that is HUGELY successful for a newcomer!!!

And the only reason it is not selling TWICE THAT, is once again no real software has been released that week.

Once MORE compelling software is released like LOST ODYSSEY, the next IDOL MASTER and GUNDAM WING, its sales will shoot up yet again!!!!!!

ITS SALES WILL ALWAYS BE HIGH WHEN NEW AAA SOFTWARE IS RELEASED, otherwise, it will average at around 6-7K a week which is still extremely good.

Bottom line: You lose fanboys, the 360 is a SUCCESS in Japan and has surpassed all of the original Xbox in userbase & will only continue to SELL BETTER AND BETTER, as more games are released!

for the 360 in Japan. It has been a continued thrashing by Nin and Sony. This is the region that Sony can make some serious ground up on the 360, but they still need to get their numbers up even more.

VGcharts is more accurate than you so be quiet. There's no NPDs so this is the next best thing we have. And they are accurate enough to know that PS3 is in fact ahead of the Wii.

Looks like there might be a new king is the land of the rising sun. Wii will probably pick back up but when DMC, MGS, FF, and GT drop it pretty much over for the Wii. The 360 on the other hand will ever win the console war without Japan and they know it this is why they just haven't given up in Japan yet.
