Those are too low for worldwide totals. I think this is only for "Others region", in which case 360 fanboys can brag about the gap getting closer between PS3 and 360.

Its simple name kids want a new game machine the wii is the cheapest. Game devs know this, if you compare how many kids game that are on the wii to the true next gen system, its laughable how many are on the wii. To be honest, I don't think that the PS3 will take over any time soon. They can stop its drop with the $399, but eventually it will be dependent on the games library and the HD TV market penetration (both TV sets and BD movies). Until then, the absolute number will sell machines. And that is $279 for a 360 or $249 for a Wii compared to the $399 for the PS3. At a certain level, features won't sell, but price. But I think it will be enough until that time will come. And I also predict this will cause a heavy hit on Wii/360 then. But not any time soon (maybe not even in 2008).

I don't think the $400 PS3 will make a dent in any of it's competition, for the simple fact that it's a dumbed down version of the 20gb that flooped. The 80gb is what's carying them, I mean twice the gb and comes with a $60 dollar game plus BC. The same goes for the $279 360, WTF no HDD, even the WII comes with internal flash memory... The WII is set up the best with only one sku IMHO.

If you read vgchartz a bit more carefully, you'll find, that these numbers (as stated somewhere above here) are "others" only (mainly Europe and Australia), the numbers for NA/Japan are not available yet and are not included in the globals, neither (so World == others for now).

If you take a close look at the PS3 numbers, then they are not really that positive. The sales dropped from 75k to ~56k. The 360 numbers are pretty much on the same level (roughly), Wii went back up again. If the PS3 US numbers won't go up significantly, the PS3 will drop below 100K again. The $399 model, however was not out in the US yet (well, since Friday, but I don't believe they'll make a big difference).

I am a PS3 owner, but we gotta keep the feet on the ground. There is nothing to celebrate - not yet.

He samples just like NPD does but on a much smaller scale so his numbers have a higher margin of error than NPD. You might look into a little thing called statistics and sample sizes. HERE'S the BIGGIE FOR YOU: NPD, Media Create, Famitsu, and so on are ALL ESTIMATES based on statistical sampling. You moron fanboys on all sides need learn a bit before commenting as it only makes you look more ignorant.

A further bit of information for you concerning VG Chartz accuracy -- they REFINE the numbers over time when they get updated data from other agencies, manufacturers themselves, etc. In hindsight, VG Chartz numbers are within 5% of manufacturers claims (when they come clean and report real numbers).

Again, go to the site, read the methodology. They are doing a pretty damn good job for not having millions of dollars invested in statistical data gathering.

I was at gamestop buying Tabula Rasa (awesome game by the way) and a lady walked in. She went to the front counter and asked for a PS3. The above figures show a big drop for the PS3 when compared to the previous week where PS3's price cut triggered a spike in sales.

OK I am not sure why PS3 fans are jumping for joy. 10k more than 360 one week is is a long way from the finish line. There is no games that are systems sellers on the PS3 Halo 3 has sold more games than the PS3 system. Developers are very scared to make games for the PS3 because they have a good chance of losing millions of dollars. Look at Lair, Heavenly Sword and Warhawk combined they have sold about as much as the worst 360 game. These were supposed to be the best that Sony has to offer? Seems that the PS3 will go the way of the Dreamcast. Why would you develop a game exclusive for the PS3 when you the sales of the console and the games? Games sell systems not hardware. Look at the Wii crappy hardware but games that are fun and accessible. I still wouldn't put the Wii in the same category as the 360 or PS3. Its like a chevy cavalier vs a Mercedes. They are completely different systems which are for a different type of gamer. The 360 is more of an overall entertainment experience. The Wii is more of a gimmicky system that does not appeal to more mature gamers and entertainment minded gamers.

you have some points, but don't make up stuff. Your wrong, very wrong. I see you forgot to mention fall of man, motorstorm or rachet and clank?? those out sold most every 360 game besides gears and halo. Warhawk has so many people its hard for them to get the servers working right all the time with the ranking system, so your very wrong on that also. Don't even make me start to show you how ps3 games sell to 360 games outside of the states, its even worse.

It says alot about a person when they know the sysem will go dead, and yet they keep on buying it, and keeping on trading it in, when they have a half @$$ and rushed system. Not saying the 360 doesn't have good games or great online service ( that you have to pay for), but I'm baffled why you guys let Microsoft spit in your face with rushed products and you tnever hold that against them.

Wrong on the wii also, the wii games actually sell the worst of the three.

So they must have been missing some information. Unless somehow 140,000+ 360s sold in teh last few hours.

As for people talking about how the Wii is doing, research is showing that over 60% of the people that own a Wii don't even use it.
So Nintendo made money on the console, but they aren't making as much money on the games.

If Sony kept the Blueray off of the PS3, i would have picked one up. But i don't like the fact that Sony owns the media, format, content, etc.. we are just asking to be taken advantage of if the Blueray wins.
