Rumor Buster: GTA 7 NOT PS3 Exclusive

Following reports of Sony grabbing the exclusive rights to the seventh game in the Grand Theft Auto series, 1PStart's JW decided to do some research in an attempt to confirm the story.

What he discovered made one thing very apparent: This rumor is almost certainly false.

The new PS3 exclusive from Rockstar is not part of the GTA series.

Rockstar (nor any other big developer) would commit themselves to selling a AAA (or big Money) title exclusively on the worst selling console on the market right now.

Until the PS3 gets some better games and proves that it is going to pick up the pace in hardware sales, I don't expect to hear of many big companies signing exclusive deals for the PS3 outside of the first party studios that are owned by SONY.

Thankfully, for SONY, they have some of the best in-house game creators in their fold. For example Team Ico.

Team Ico produced games in the last generation of consoles that went mostly unappreciated and unnoticed by the "mainstream" crowd.

I think now, largely in part to the rave reviews and better sales of Shadow of the Colossus, you can expect the next Team Ico game to move PS3s off store shelves.

Sounds like another amateur site just trying get some hits.
I mean I could have posted 10 valid opinion pieces under the title, Rumor Buster : No Ps3 Price-cut, on some random website. Does that make it ok for it to be posted on N4G? Although this rumor may not be true, 1pstart does not discredit the rumor completely. If it's definitely worth it, a more credible site would confront the rumor with legit sources. I wonder if Kotaku heard about the rumor.

I was saying the exact thing for almost 2 hours now. I also said a few people would have egg on their faces. I'm not gloating but this is a lesson that when such rumours pop up, people need to wait for several sources of evidence before they believe it without an official confirmation.

i agree that gta isnt exclusive. I cant see rockstar doing that considering this generation wont be lopsided in sales like the ps2 last gen. However i disagree with his numbering. gta gta2 and gta advance dont count. They arent console games. that makes gtaiv the 6th console version and the one after the 7th.
edit: to clarify gta2 was on playstation one. what i mean is when they revamped and went away from the top down style.

Why would you make it for just one system? You would not. Too much money to be missed. It would be one thing if $ony had the numbers the ps2 had but they do not, that system just does not have the game at the time where the 360 does. That is why UT3 and MGS4 and FF XIII will be on the 360. I own eash system and if people could afford it I guess everybody would but most people ubder 25 or 30 cant so pick the one you can afford and have fun with it. I happen to like the 360 better but the ps3 does have some cool features.

No offense but it's like Putting a 360 game in Japan. You make say 100,000 copies, but it only sells 45,000. What happens? That's right you have to recoup the extra cash it takes to port it and convert the language, AND the extra discs that were never sold. that's why it happens less with smaller studios that aren't good at porting with teams that are too small to make it worthwhile.
