PS3 sales down 25 percent , along with Wii and Xbox 360 in Japan

In the latest hardware sales from Japan, the PS3's sales drop below 20k by falling from 21.720 to 16.393. The Wii's sales dropped from 73.938 to 46.283. Microsoft's Xbox 360 still struggling in sales dropped by a few hundreds whiles managing to sell 2.044.

WOW from what it seems the Wii took the biggest blow out of the three.

Wii sold 27.655 less - dropped more than 33%

PS3 sold 5.327 less - dropped 25%

360 sold a lot less then that. - dropped ?%

PS3 sold about 70-80k per month
xbox sold about 8-10k per month

What you going to do when the PS3 runs wild and when there's actually games besides VF5 and Hot Shots Golf in Japan. There's potential to be made in Japan. DS is winning because it's doing so well in Japan. PS3 isn't always going to stay at 20,000 every week, but 360 will always be at the 2,000 range. So what are you going to do when PS3 sells over 200,000 units every month and the 360 sells 20,000 at most? And the gap in the U.S. between the 360 and PS3 is becoming smaller each time the PS3's price comes closer to the 360.

first of all ur only showing the U.S. chart, where is Europe chart? everyone knows that 360 has no chance against ps3 worldwide and ps3 already beating 360 since price drop without the heavy hitters yet. also on the release day of halo 3, people in japan wouldnt even pick up that game even for $15. 21.720 to 16.393... that a huge drop. over 25%.... while not doing as great... the xbox 360 (Predictable) has being able to keep itself over 2K units. 8K new xbox gamers a month.. not bad for a console that's not welcome in Japan. That's close to 100K new xbox gamers a year.

Good thing the xbox 360 is compesating for these lost sells in the US... and as much as Sony fans think that the PS3 is doing great in Japan... it's not... it's doing better than the xbox 360... but it's doing bad also. Take a peek at the wii.. in comparison... that's what the PS3 should be doing if they want to win this gen.

15000 PS3 vs 2200 X360 = 12800 per week. That means 64 K units per month difference. Don't you think 64K per month is a lot ? ( just comparing this 2 consoles and with that ratio of units per week ). To me it's a lot console that Sony sells. See how nice the news can be for Sony. The way you put your information seems like X360 was really doing great in Japan cause the good sales in USA. Nice, i can also say that PS3 sells really good in Europe, so how's that ?...

Wii is a case of success in terms of financial reports and sales. I also have one, but i can't, i repeat can't put Wii in the same level of PS3 or X360, the Wii is fighting is own Generation War. Not the same as PS3 or X360, so if u say that PS3 should be doing that, well why not also X360 ?

That the PS3 isn't doing so hot in Japan. That's a much bigger problem for Sony than the 360's dismal performance over there is for Microsoft. Sony's the 900 pound gorilla in Japan and Microsoft never really had a chance in that country.

What's up with the title? The Wii had a bigger drop off than the PS3 dammit. I guess the 360 is so bad that it doesn't even have a drop off because if it had one it would be selling zero units.

Is it possible the drop is because of mp3 coming out in America this week and America getting some of the Wiis that would have went to Japan otherwise? I would be much more interested in seeing the availability rate of the wii in japan this week, i bet they are still all sold out.

I thought about that too. Wiis have sold out, constantly, everywhere. It would be strange to see such a drop without a reason.

Maybe Nintendo has really stepped up stockpiling efforts for the holidays, as well.

It would be nice to know if Wiis are able to be found on store shelves everywhere in Japan, though, because from sold out to almost half of the units produced not being sold is a huge drop.
