60GB PS3 sold at Target for $499.99

It seems like the price cut has been put to effect. One of PS3 Fanboy's readers was able to purchase a 60GB PS3 for $499.99 in Target. When PS3 Fanboy contacted Target, they confirmed that their PS3 are being sold for the said price.

Hit the link for more info.

UPDATE 1] A Kansas Target has the 60GB PS3 in its computer at $599

[UPDATE 2] Another tipster has told us that today they sold two at Circuit City at $499. Confused, the manager called it in and got a confirmation that it was correct. We are in the process of verifying this.

[UPDATE 3] A Target store in Rancho Cucamonga in California has confirmed that the 60GB PS3 is in their system for $499. It looks like there's no pattern to which stores are and aren't offering the price cut.

Who doubted it? It is for real!

Go get a $499 PS3 60 GB!!!

kspraydad6138d ago

Sonystyle has had this effective price for months now...use a SONY CC and get a 100$ credit...

Anyway...I'd still wait to get the PS3 with the rumble controllers...perhaps the price cut is earlier than expected (ie November) to clear out that inventory?

pwnsause6138d ago

hey now that means if the price drop is real and you buy from sony style with the credit card, you get it for 399, hell thats a steal if you get that credit card Sony CC FTW!!!!!

JsonHenry6137d ago

I wish I had not bought mine earlier. I never play the damn thing. (at least not right now, this fall will be a different story)

All the multi-platform games I buy for the 360 instead since the graphics and hitches are all better for it. Unless it comes out for the PC too, in which case I will buy it for the PC.

In my experience **SO FAR** - PC>Xbox360>PS3

ITR6138d ago

Make sure they didn't screw up the pricing.

If someone quotes you a price at Target and you b*tch...you'll get that price.
(also look for out of date sales tags)

Either that or the pricing team has already changed the pricing or they have confused the 20GB price for the 60GB price. I've seen it happen before.

BIadestarX6138d ago

Come on Sony $299 and I will be come one of you brainless fanboys! I would even flame the xbox 360 about ....ehh..... WHAT ELSE!? ROD.
I will even have dreams about the army of games coming to the PS3 years from now. And I will even pretend to like or care about blu-ray.
$299 please!!!!!!!!!!

Adamalicious6137d ago

It'll get there eventually. If you're one of those people who won't buy it till then that's cool - it's just like all the people buying the PS2 - great library of games ($20 a pop for a lot of them) etc. etc.

sak5006137d ago (Edited 6137d ago )

$500 well thats expensive for a device where we have to just wait for eternity to make good use of it. My money is well spent on my 2 360s.

Edit: blade i'm with you on $299 price. Good price to hv a bluray player that also plays games. But still will not turn into rabid fonyboi and strike at something which has given me plenty of next gen games for past year and a half.

Bathyj6137d ago

Cyber

You seem to think a person cant buy a PS3 and still like his Xbox. You seem to think you'll turn from a gibberish spouting fanboy, into a gibberish spouting fanboy for the other side.

Maybe Bladestar's gone and grown up and left you behind.

dantesparda6137d ago (Edited 6137d ago )

Am I the only one who can tell that Bladestar is being sarcastic? LOL! even the even bigger fanboy CyberSentinel couldnt tell, what a dip!

And to the guy below me (Dark Knight), i can get it (a PS3) for $400 right now, or $500 with 3 games, brand new, and i still dont want it (Im not not hating on it, I just dont care to pay that much still for a video game system, the 360 is the last system i will ever spend that much money on)

BIadestarX6137d ago

Guys... come on... don't uncover my conspiracy to have sony go bankrup! we all know Sony can't aford to drop the PS3 by $300 before the next xbox is released.

I just called my target here in Florida they have 3 left for $499.99 but they told me to hurry and if you apply for a target credit card you recive an additional %10 of your purchase so heres the math

PS3 60 GB $600
Price drop -$100
10% discount -$50
TOTAL $450 Thats a Deal for Me!!!!

kewlkat0076137d ago (Edited 6137d ago )

good deal, don't forget to add a Game or 2, extra controller, and a warranty. You still end up paying $600+. Still too much for some casual gamers. Let alone many do not have HDTV's.

Bundles are a better value..

-$100 is good but nothing great IMO. The 360 is still less and have the better line-up this fall/winter. Well you can only disagree with one..if you choose..hehe

like they say "to each his own"..

Edit: I forgot to mention "TAX".

Rythrine6137d ago (Edited 6137d ago )

Good news if its true. In relation to yesterday's debacle, I'll just wait and see for an official announcement from Sony if they are indeed having a price cut after E3 maybe.

PS. For the people who reported specially Afterglow, I apologize for the worst editing in history of N4G lolz. My fatigue from a long 5 hour drive to New York and back got the best of me.

Mugen Souls Retro Review – Sexy Demon Space Adventure

Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies2h ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

CrimsonWing6913h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker13h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing6912h ago(Edited 12h ago)

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt57m ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos19h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto18h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger8818h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

ChasterMies8h ago

Trevor in GTA 6 is a sadist and psychopath who dabbles in cannibalism. Should be top of the list. These game “news” sites should hire people that know games.
