Rumor: Zenimax to buy Valve

Earlier this year could Zenimax announce that they had bought id Software, and thus would be responsible for all future releases from the company after RAGE. Now there are rumors that Zenimax are out with their wallets again.

I think this will create a new activision or EA... so I don't know if that's good or bad.

The worst thing that could happen is that they spread out the talent, while the best they could do is remanage it.

Maybe L4D will get ported to PS3 so all the PS3 users can see how overrated that game is.

I had moderately-high expectations for L4D after all of the great things I heard, but it was incredibly mediocre! I love Nazi Zombies because of the rush it gives you but L4D was just boring. It's supposed to be "super replayable" but I didn't even finish the game cus it was pretty boring.

There's always rumours of people trying to buy Valve. Earlier this year it was EA, then there was some talk of Google buying them.

Valve will stay independent.

Valve could never operate under a parent company if there were any creative restrictions, and I doubt Gabe's leaving any time soon.

I really doubt that Valve are selling up. They're probably making more money than Zenimax are.

This is one of the only times I will ever say this, but that is a TERRIBLE thing to say. Valve's games are PC first, console second. I would hate to see Gabe leave and then see Valve forced to work on consoles instead of PC.

Also, Gabe is a very nice guy, and it would be a terrible thing for him to leave in general.

Well, that's the thing. Valve is one of the few independent companies that really doesn't need to be bought up. They're quite successful.

Listen, I'm a ps3 and pc gamer and I've always loved Valve.
Maybe disappointed of how they treat the ps3 but as a hardcore pc gamer, I couldn't be any happier with what they've done for pc. But please, oh please, don't make up crap like this.

They own a digital distribution platform, if they were smart they'd stay independent. And Valve is pretty fuking smart, despite their unreasonable reluctance to give the PS3 a whirl.

This would be very interesting if Zenimax buys Valve. I could see some great games coming out of a merger with ID and Valve. I so think merging the Rage and Source engine could become a very powerful engine and could allow for some really cool concepts in games. So I am not sure this will happen but if it does it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Think about it, they have enough money self fund all of their games and they own Steam. Probably would be one of the most costly aqusitions. I also don't know how id soft would take that. One thing is for sure, Valve is one of the most valuable independent companies in the industry.

Can't see it myself, Valve have made a fortune through their own hard work and have built a platform that is relied on by a lot of companies.

To sell to another company would wreck all they have achieved, which would kill a lot of their consumer base.

Seriously, Valve probably does make more money than Zenimax. I had never even heard of them until they bought id. And id is a much smaller, and lower earning developer than Valve.

It will a good thing for Valve that they can make games faster. IDsoftware will make the breath taking game engines Bethaseda and Valve will make games quicker! Win Win for Zenimax!
