Rumor: Zenimax to buy Valve

Earlier this year could Zenimax announce that they had bought id Software, and thus would be responsible for all future releases from the company after RAGE. Now there are rumors that Zenimax are out with their wallets again.

If this is true, how freaking deep are Zenimax's pockets?

mrv3215295d ago

Ah the jokes I could make are obvious, and by saying that no one else can make a joke.

I think this will create a new activision or EA... so I don't know if that's good or bad.

The worst thing that could happen is that they spread out the talent, while the best they could do is remanage it.

Kalowest5295d ago (Edited 5295d ago )

Their pockets got deeper after the huge sells of Fallout3, and all that DLC they kept releasing.

droid and bot5295d ago (Edited 5295d ago )

well
i really cant see why not this is happening

RememberThe3575295d ago

Steam and Half-Life. That is all you need.

That said, I don't see this happening at all. Valve values it's independence too much.

Maybe L4D will get ported to PS3 so all the PS3 users can see how overrated that game is.

I had moderately-high expectations for L4D after all of the great things I heard, but it was incredibly mediocre! I love Nazi Zombies because of the rush it gives you but L4D was just boring. It's supposed to be "super replayable" but I didn't even finish the game cus it was pretty boring.

Maybe your comment will be pasted on the other boards so everyone will know how boring it is.

MagicAccent5295d ago

I find it more likely that Valve would buy up Zenimax.
And that is extremely unlikely.

darkmurder5295d ago

The Elder Scrolls: Source ... ah no thanks lol. Valve is far too big for Zenimax to consume, they're still digesting the acquisition of id Software ffs.

slayorofgods5295d ago

It's about as likely as Bio ware getting bought out, oh wait.

Xbox Avatars Shoe5295d ago (Edited 5295d ago )

Was that supposed to be funny? I have no problem smiling/laughing at a joke even if it's at my own expense, but that was just dumb. What, are we in 5th grade here? You're probably not even old enough to play it.

darkmurder5294d ago

@Shoe dont go on about being in 5th grade, the way you act defending your console is bordering on baby like. Go ahead and spit the dummy as per norm when someone offends your 'motherland'.

This won't happen.

There's always rumours of people trying to buy Valve. Earlier this year it was EA, then there was some talk of Google buying them.

Valve will stay independent.

Pandamobile5295d ago (Edited 5295d ago )

Where the hell did you get that?

Valve could never operate under a parent company if there were any creative restrictions, and I doubt Gabe's leaving any time soon.

kwyjibo5295d ago

I really doubt that Valve are selling up. They're probably making more money than Zenimax are.

The thing about Gabe retiring is just something the guy above has made up.

Arnon5295d ago

This is one of the only times I will ever say this, but that is a TERRIBLE thing to say. Valve's games are PC first, console second. I would hate to see Gabe leave and then see Valve forced to work on consoles instead of PC.

Also, Gabe is a very nice guy, and it would be a terrible thing for him to leave in general.

@Pandamobile

Well, that's the thing. Valve is one of the few independent companies that really doesn't need to be bought up. They're quite successful.

sabestar5295d ago

How could people create such ridiculous stuff; Gabe retiring????

How the hell can you think of such a thing?
Listen, I'm a ps3 and pc gamer and I've always loved Valve.
Maybe disappointed of how they treat the ps3 but as a hardcore pc gamer, I couldn't be any happier with what they've done for pc. But please, oh please, don't make up crap like this.

evrfighter5295d ago

gabe retiring after what now?

sounds like a stoner circle discussion. Seriously keep that sh*t in the rotation and out of real news sites.

HOLY SH!T. That would be too freaking huge.

qwertyuiopasdfghjkl5295d ago

Valve should be bought. I'm sure it's new owner will weed out the arrogant dumbos running it now... Gabe...

Oh...sure. Let me guess which console you're a fanboy of.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
