Are Gamers as Weak as the Industry Thinks We Are?

From HDWarriors.com:

To many it is laughable to think that gamers have the strength of will to follow through on a boycott of a game of a popular series. People say one thing in order to vent frustration, but do they really intend to do it? It brings about interesting questions, and perhaps even a crossroads where we as gamers will look back and see how our actions have defined ourselves in the public eye.

Let's set aside the recent Activision outrage for a moment and look within for a moment. Test ourselves on an individual level and see if we are capable of being the unified force that we'd like to be, or the crackhead-like lemmings that some companies seem to think we are. One way to do that is to consider the current scenario but imagine other games and companies in place of Activision.
