Konami Q2,2009 report. MGS4 sells 4.33 million units worldwide

Konami has released their fiscal report for the second quarter of 2008 ending on 30th September. Konami has sold 400,000 copies of MGS4 during the 3 month quarter.

and I too remember many statements from the opposing team doubting the success of MGS-4. Well this should put their doubts to rest. But seriously, its a big problem with 360 team that they always try to look down on PS3 team, that's what I noticed though. Not saying this doesn't happen in this team either but much resentment comes from that base from my experience: cause they always go to extreme lengths such as smashing of PS3 console sometime during launch and we all know what happened with LBP Meta score. Those are just few examples though.

i read the report and it says that the Metal Gear "franchise" is selling 4.33 units in Q2 2009. That would include any sales of the PS2 and PSP versions of MGS as well as MGS4. For example, it says that the Metal Gear franchise sold 0.51 million units in Q2 2008 (last year). MGS4 was not out last year, so that means that theoretically MGS4 might only of sold 3.9 million copies or somewhere around there. Not trying to ruin the party, i could be wrong but thats what i got out of the report.

So I was right all along. I been saying MGS4 has only sold about 4 million. Yes that's a high number but not for a game like MGS4. MGS4 is Sony's number 1 game and it only sold 4 million to a user base of 17 million??? This game has no legs. Most of the damage was done early on from the fans. MGS IV is PS3 exclusive. Those who have not played the game. Be sure to LOOK AT THE INSTALLATION screen. It reads the game was developed ONLY on the PS3, and can ONLY be played on the PS3. Second of all, they made fun of the PS2 and 360's limited capacity.

For the record, people ... MGS IV uses full-scale CG real-time gameplay. NOT your typical Unreal Engine 3 or anything similar to it. Each character is over 500,000 polygons rendering smoothly at NO lag in an area with what ... 30, 40, maybe 50 characters? Seriously, 360 fans ... stick with Gears of War 2. You'll need it. MGS IV will not be coming on the 360, period. And KONAMI shot the rumor from couple of weeks ago down, again.
