FF Versus XIII reports "are false"

Eurogamer reports: "Square Enix has rubbished suggestions that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold. "Reports that development for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold are false," the publisher said in a statement passed on to Eurogamer.

"The truth of the situation is that when free, some staff from the Versus team have been helping with the XIII team on development of Final Fantasy XIII. Development for both titles is continuing as originally scheduled."

That rather significantly contradicts translations of game director Tetsuya Nomura's comments in a Famitsu article, where he reportedly used the words "on hold" and said "the entire Versus team is helping to finish Final Fantasy XIII".

Lol, we're all thinking the same thing. First thing I thought was, "don't care until you tell me your MGS4 score was false!"

But I don't need them to tell me that!

BISHOP-BRASIL5787d ago

I can see people getting "on hold" where it was "when free" (refering to the devs free time of Versus), and the entire team is not necessarily untrue, since the entire team can have free time... But really, my japanese sucks... So it can just be what the first guy traduced correctly and Eurogamer maybe is just being an @ss again.

good:) because im really looking forward to this one:) its a lot less girly(dont wana sound sexist but it is):) and its alot darker and it aint a full JRPG which i am very happy about:)

Fishy Fingers5787d ago

WooHoo, that's good news for me as I've always been more interested in Versus.

Britjadg5787d ago

genuine question here: why?

not alot of info out there on versus, hell the the info on ffXIII is scare enough.

Wildarmsjecht5787d ago

I kinda agree with Fishy, although both have day one purchases from me. But Versus has this dark and gritty world surrounding it, with a shady protagonist that u just WANT to find out more about. I think he;s a prince and his kingdom is one of the few that has a crystal and the whole world is at war over them. But the battle sequence itself reminded me of KH2 last battle area. Cannot wait.

Fishy Fingers5787d ago

LOL... You want to know why I'm more interested in Versus, read Wildarmsjecht's comment, it pretty much sums it up.

Plus, (dont hate me) I'm not a huge fan of turn based combat, hopefully Versus will be a little more action orientated.

Both day one though. Id buy a FF game just for their CGI, I love it so much :)

Diugu5787d ago

... and play the hell out of them.

These are the games I am expecting the most.. even more than MGS4. Even though, now that I played it a little, I think it is very difficult to make me enjoy anything more than MGS4.

am (BRITJADG) on mates account coz my login is being gay. cant get on?

@ Wildarmsjecht, have seen the video (or at least i think i've seen the one ur talking about - is it the one with him walking down some stairs from his throne with loads of "troopers" shooting at him?

the only reason i ask about preference for versus over ffXIII is that other than both seem to use the white engine and a couple of pics, i really haven't seen any more info out there. thought there might be something key that i had missed.

SO TEMPTING TO GIVE MYSELF BUBBLES LOL

Wildarmsjecht5787d ago

lol @ the irony of your name and you using another persons username :P all in jest, just thought that was kinda funny. Sometimes the login does act hella g@y tho.

I don't remember where i read the kingdom information and the war over the crystals, i wish i knew cuz it'd give me a better understanding obviously. I'll search around and link it when i can. But yea that traile with him fighting all the soldiers, and the screenshots of another person, a girl i believe, beign involved got me hooked. Especially the fight sceen. It was like KH2 with FF7 AC wrapped in FF3/6 story line. Bad.Ass.

Pornlord5787d ago

I'd like to say I'm looking forward to one more than the other, but honestly, which ever one comes out first is the one I'll get. Then I'll get the other. I just can't let good RPG's slip through my collection. I still pay suikoden and Chrono trigger from time to time hahah

Britjadg5787d ago

genius wasn't it? i hadn't even considered the irony until you mentioned it!

if you do find that stuff will you let me know? i am an avid FF fan and all info on these games should be required by law!

p.s. thanks to dec for letting me use his account! have a bubble fella.

Doctor Strange5787d ago

As long as development on both seems to be going fine then I'm okay, I just want to see some new footage on both XIII titles and a possible release date.

meepmoopmeep5787d ago

i like the idea that the Versus team is helping the XIII team to get the product finished faster, and vice versa.

i'm hoping for a release date announcement at E3

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled6d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog138d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake138d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic137d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan138d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman138d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator138d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno138d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior138d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake138d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
