Why Sega should release a new console

Cnet-"Sega is in trouble. According to its latest filing in Japan, the company incurred a loss $501 million during its 2008 fiscal year and its video games division lost about $56.3 million. And as the company was quick to point out, something needs to be done on the video game front."

Even if they did release a new console it'd be part of the next gen around 2010 which is still a while off and wouldn't help them in the short term.

But if they were to make half decent games and not some crap Sonic game then they might actually make some money.

for 3 consoles. They would bury their own company trying to release another console.

Especially if they're competing with the hardcore consoles. Both MS and Sony sell consoles at a loss at first. No way can Sega do that.

This guys article is stupid. There is no way SEGA could afford to make another console. The only way they could do it is if they teamed with Microsoft and released a console together. MS has the financial backing and SEGA has the franchises and familiar trusting name that can win Japan. Don't hold your breath for that to happen though.

Sega is in some serious money troubles, they couldn't afford releasing a new console. They can't even make decent games.

That's a shame. I really love Dreamcast and games it have. I'm keeping it till now, good ol' DC.
