Jack Thompson claims "Videogames caused 9/11"

Spencer Halpin's upcoming hullabaloo documentary film Moral Kombat takes on videogames violence and claims that videogames caused the 9/11 incident. The film features also none other than Jack Thompson, (who in the documentary claims "videogames caused 9/11!")

The documentary film's main subject is the gaming violence, featuring the facts that terrorists used flight simulators in training or that people like Pekka-Eric Auvinen or Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold used to play violent video games.

seriously, this guy has no limits on what he says. I doubt he understands the impact of what he claims. saying that video games led to an act of terrorism carries a lot of weight, whether you believe it or not.

Seriously, I've been playing fps games since the time of doom. According to jackass i would be fully trained futuristic and WWII weapons expert killing machine by now. Well I've never owned any firearm and never fired a real weapon in my life, unless pellet gun is considered a firearm.

Hmmn wait...no actually. That's still the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

The thing is, playing a violant videogame CAN actually be that final impulse some sicko needs to comit these horrible 'incidents', yes. But the point is that this sicko WILL get this impulse anyway. Whether it be from watching horror movies, seeing war footage on CNN, getting beat up by his daddy etc.

So should we ban all these things aswell? Let's ban religion and politics aswell then, because they are the cause of thousands of deaths every year and actually provide the majority of the motives for these sicko's.

The movie implies that, not Jack Thompson. If you watch the GameTrailers interview where he is asked what games do you know, he mentions GTA and he can't really mention any other game title. I mean, he is trying to crucify videogames but he can't even mention a game title...? He doesn't know what he is talking about at all. I thought he was better than that.

Gamers hate Jack. I understand why. I tried to understand the man a little more, think if I wasn't wrong about him. I agree with him in some issues, of course. But this last interview left me with no hope. He suffers from a common state called "idee fix" - he has got his mind set on one idea so hard he can't move his neck and look around for more.
