Hero Showdown: Link vs. Cloud

You may remember a couple weeks ago we pit two videogame legends against one another: Samus and Master Chief. Samus walked out of the battle unscathed, grabbing a huge win from Microsoft's poster boy.

After Samus and MC scrapped, we showed you how billionaire superheroes get down when Batman took on Iron Man. After Bats was done with Stark n' Suit, Iron Man was reduced to a Shell of a man.

Now, for the third in the series, we present: Link vs. Cloud. It's Nintendo's most beloved vs. Square Enix's finest. We're sensing another hard-fought war along party lines… so let's introduce the competitors and get this thing started!

As much as people love Link I don't think he has a chance. It's going to be a beatdown. Cloud is a beast in AC. If Cloud can beat arguably the greatest villain of all time, he can whoop Link's little elven a$$.

Well, at least this article is better written that that "Master Chief beats all" article that got posted a few weeks ago (Too lazy to find the link). I think reading it actually killed some brain cells.

I'll can jump the debacle. Cloud would give Link a beat down. I can't beleive Link is winning with 65% on ign! I am assuming materia is fair ground, as Link would have his hookshot, bow and boomerang. Did anyone say "knights of the round"?

Poor link, we barely knew ye in all his cellshaded glory.

o did u 4get about nyrue's love(spelling) it dont take damage but cloud looks like a GOD in advent children and summoning O crap again link has goddess powers compared to summons dag I CAN'T CHOOSE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: heres what my brother thinks "I am a fan of both FF7 and L.O.Z. but its gonna be BRAWL OF THE CENTURY until they go for the Finisher Omnislash vs Triforce slash and the winner is
Link because while Cloud goes to deliver Omnislash Link's Triforce slash stops you completely then he goes berserk with a barrage of slashes and the last attack of the Triforce Slash Link does the Ultimate Spin Attack (U.S.A.)

6 - Part 1 of the fight

High atop Death Mountain a child kokiri is out tracking down a pendant for the great Deku Tree. He is attacked by a cave full of bats which he disposes of in one throw with his boomerang. The child kokiri then straightens his hat out and continues on quest so as to save the Deku Tree.

A short while later he hears a roaring in the distance the likes of which the young forest dweller has never heard. Louder than a stampede of a thousand horses but with harsh rumble of swords clashing on a battlefield.
At that moment the young boy hears a voice come to him, angelic and bodiless, which makes him question his sanity. "Link, become the man you were born to be".

The noise getting louder now reveals itself, a blond man riding a black steel demon horse. Link draws the trusty silver boomerang and stands in unease waiting for this battle stricken man to speak.

His mako blue eyes fix upon the young elvish looking boy, "you threaten my reputation, I am here to fight for my honor". To which he replies "...". In a flash the he pulls out his Buster Sword and dashes at the young boy. Link whips his boomerang to the left and drops an armed bomb in single deft movement sidestepping the charging young man with the ice blue eyes. The bomb detonates striking Cloud at the same instant his hand is impacted with the boomerang disarming him and temporarily stunning him.

"You must become the man you were born to be" in blinding flash of light the mastersword appears lodged in a nearby stone. Link lunges for the sword and pulls at with all his strength. The sinews in his tiny arms straining to dis-logde the legendary Master Sword from the stone. In that moment the sword began to move and Link could feel the power of the gods course through his veins. Courage swelled in the boy as a glowing golden triangle appeared beneath his skin.

"You must grow into the Legend you were born to be and these are tools you are going to need to be...". Within an instant the child kokiri was transformed into powerful young man with golden guantlets of power, a red tunic of Goron fashion with Biggorons sword, a bow and some unassuming silver arrows and an un-hyrulian reflective metal shield.

Cloud, now aware of that his opponent is a full grown man levels up in an instant to 99 and equips his Ultima Weapon the Quadra cut materia, Bahamut, Meteor and KotR. Standing at full height he stabs his sword in to the ground, reaches in his pocket and pulls out a pretty little pink ribbon. He ties this in his hair.

The two stare each other down in an attempt to gain the advantage. Cloud dragging his sword on the ground making sparks, rushes to meet Link, sword held high in an offensive stance. The pair meet in an explosive collision of steel and flesh. Swordlocked they grimace and circle each other fighting for dominance. Cloud's limit guage filling with anger, frustration and rage is nearing critical capacity. Link breaks the sword lock with a back flip

7 - Part 2 of the fight

Cloud squaring up again does a quadra strike. Link rolls in to meet him, drawing his shield he deflects the first strike and parrys. " hya hya hyaaaa". The flurry of steel is fierce.

Quickly gathering his wits Cloud casts meteor lvl 5. Link falls back notching three silver arrows and unleashes them in to the falling star shattering it to point that it burns up in the atmosphere. The triforce of courage burning deeply in his soul imbues the falling arrows with the light of the gods. They fall to earth guided mystically to green elvish hero.

Immediately Link goes on the offense strafing Cloud with the magical arrows. The first directed straight at his heart, which he easily deflects. The second, a near miss grazes his ear. The third strike hits him square in the left shoulder tearing off his armour.

Cloud desperate to end the battle draws upon his strongest Bahamut summoning magic. Link lunged at it with a single vertical strike straight the heart and slew the massive behemoth, the King Bahamut.

Stunned by Bahamuts seemingly easy defeat. Cloud becoming enraged now drew upon his all powerful KotR.

Knight after knight, rush at the seemingly childish looking Hyrulian hero in an incredible onslaught. Link wearing the Goron tunic is resistant to immense heat generate by the ethereal beings. Link feverishly strikes back at each rushing knights crushing all but the last one with his Master Sword. The killing blow strikes his shield knocking him in to a tree with such force he loses the Master Sword, at the same time awakening a fairy within the hollow of the tree. The Fairy immediately recognizes the Kokirish nature of the young man and lends him her power by healing him.

Surprised at the resilience of Link, Cloud’s anger overcomes him and his limit break explodes. He storms at Link unleashing the Omnislash. Link having lost the Master Sword raises his shield for protection. The speed and force with which Cloud strikes has Link struggling to keep his shield in a defense position. He felt like he was being trampled by a thousand raging boars. Cloud, jumping into the air began his decent to lay the final blow on the semi stunned Link, leaned into his attack with all of his might. Clouds blow fell on the mighty Link, shattering his shield like glass.

The two warriors were left laying on the grass bloody and breathless. They struggled to their feet. Link now unshielded reached for his massive Biggoron’s Sword. With a smirk Link started the final attack rushing at Cloud. With his massive Ultima Weapon still at full power Cloud did the same thing. With a vertical strike aimed at splitting Link in two, Cloud beared down with all his strength only to miss as Link rolled aside. He quickly followed with a debilitating horizontal slash.

Link seeing this slash coming jumped in to the air. Having Biggorons sword in hand he drew down upon the skull of the brave blond warrior to the hilt

Link should easily win this. Cloud was in a single game, and, as good as it was, FF7 was no where near as good as most games in the Zelda series.

Heck, if you judge on strength, Link can snipe pretty well with that bow, probably injuring Cloud before he could get to him. Also, we know Link has the triforce, and he finishes his quests alone, more or less, while Cloud had to have a group.

Cloud > Sephiroth > Link. period. Link use triforce, cloud summons( Bahamut zero) or any other summons and we say goodbye Link. I don't care how many games there are of Link. One on One fight Link is dead. And here a little video to prove my point. :D

Not only is the triforce the power of the gods, but, evidently, courage is the strongest part. Link wins against Zelda and Gannondorf, the other two that have the triforce parts.

In TP, we also learn that swinging a blade means nothing if there is not courage behind it.

Finally, Link can't die! In all of the Zelda series, there have been at least three different Links (Ocarina of Time and all before may or may not be the same Link, Wind Waker was a new Link, and TP was a new Link). Even if Cloud did manage to get close enough to Link to attack (bomb arrows make that hard in itself, as does the ability to quickly move away with the hook/clawshot), and even if he did overcome all the the special abilities of Link, and even if he did kill him, it's only a matter of time before a new Hero of Time is chosen and Link is back to fight again.
