Halo 3 better than everything?

Gamers love Halo. Gamers also love to hate Halo. More than anything, however, gamers love to argue about Halo. Is it overrated or underrated? Is it the best shooter ever, or the worst? Is it better than Shooter X and Shooter Y? Or does Shooter Z totally blow it out of the water?

GamesRadar get a major kick out of watching these pointless but hilarious flame wars rage. So, in an immature effort to toss extra fuel on the fire, they decided to expand the debate a little. Who says Halo 3 is merely the best shooter? Could it perhaps be the best Game of all time?

1.1 - The only way you are going to find out the true answer to that question is...

Ask the 6 million people that bought Halo2 and didn't have xbox live...They would be the only one's to tell you how Halo's universe stacks up to other games base on story....We all know the reason Halo is great and that's because of Multiplayer. I play halo2 alot almost as much as socom. But when I play the single player it doesn't even come close to God of war, Ico, Re4, shadow of the colousas. No offense to Halo fan's but if you think the story on the campain is great, you haven't played many single player games. Multiplayer it's the best FPS, shooter... I like how Socom is setup better but it's just a preference no pawn intended.. Is Halo3 a 10/10 not even close, but you have your fans that they rate the multiplayer game and forget that alot of people don't play online. Just to show you how bad reveiws are, more than 1/2 the people that bought halo3 don't play online...So is the single player a 10/10? You think about that..Review the game as a whole not just the parts that you like about it!!!!!!!

1.4 - I am one of those

people who never played Halo 2 online. I did play a few multiplayer games with my friends but not very often.

I am playing the Halo 3 campaign at the moment and as its been a while since I played Halo it is interesting getting used to the quirks of the Halo series compared to other games I play.

The story seems OK at the moment. Those Cortana moments in the first few levels are annoying and don't make any sense at the moment. The scenery is great and impressive. The warthogs drive better and I like the new chopper vehicles which the enemies use.

The bits I don't like;

Why can't I peek from behind a tree, or rock, like Gears of War? Why can't I crouch down properly or even lay down like Call of Duty, Metal Gear Solid, especially when I have the sniper rifle (favourite weapon)? These are the bits which have disappointed me so far, but it is early days and like I said, you have to get back into the Halo way and forget the other games as it has its own feel. I don't think it is as smooth as R:FOM either. Sometimes when moving around there is a definite 'jerkiness' I noticed.

It is not the greatest no, but I think when you add up all the different modes, and the features such as the Theater, then I can understand why it gets the high reviews, but in terms of the campaign, then it really doesn't compare to games like Shadow of the Colossus. Just what were they thinking to even try and compare it? Heavenly Sword is better so far, in terms of campaign BTW. :o)

For me, Halo 3 is one of the greatest games overall that I've played, but there are games closer to my heart then Halo. FFVII, Diablo 2, Shadow of Collosus, and a couple others I liked more.

In my opinion (Because my favorite game genre is third person action adventure) God of War 2 is the greatest game ever made followed quickly by Devil May Cry 3, trailing by the up and coming Heavenly Sword franchise.

As far as I'm concerned Halo is in my top 3 with Thief and Republic Commando as 1 and 2, 4 and 5 go to Ninja Gaiden and Delta Force 2 (DF2 had 62 player mp in 1999).

Halo 3 is better than... Warhawk? No warhawk is way better than halo 3 in regards to online.. You might not be able make your own maps and record your play but you can do sooo much more. Halo has warhawk beat on the single game campaign.. But warhawk is so intense and so much more fun..

Halo is a great game but if ur saying its the best FPS ever i would have to disagre. If your saying no FPS coming in the next two years will be a better game then i hope your wrong.

Warhawk is more fun online IMO....if they add more maps over time this game will be a multi-year type of game. In that i mean i will play it for well over a year and never get bored.

Thats the point. Who gives a flying F#ck about compairing it to other games. Warhawk is Warhawk and Resident Evil is Resident Evil. Why the compairisons? Halo 3 is a very good game and is worth ever penny. I have a 360 but I dont have Halo 3 cause I dont want to pay for online play but I played the hell out of Halo 1+2 that was great. Do I think Halo 3 is the greatest ever, as far has multiplayer goes, No I like Like Smash Bros More but thats not going to stop me from saying that Halo 3 deserves all the pub + sales its getting. So many people wouldn't be buying it if wasn't a great game. Am I going to get it? Probably not but I know its good and its not overrated and I will play it cause all my friends have it. If you can afford Xbox Live every year and like online shooters Halo 3 is a no brainer. Not only that but Bungie even added 4 player co-op online. Hey I'm not the biggest fan of Halo 3 but I'm also not a biased fanboy. Halo deserves EVERYTHING its getting!

I just finished the single player Halo 3 today. I never expected it to actually be this great because of all the hype, but it is. Definitely better than all the games they compare it to for sure. The vehicle scenes are awesome!!

Halo 3, Duke Nukem (yes the DOS game), MULE and Bioshock are the best games I've ever played. Forza 2 and Rainbow Six are pretty close behind.

no. Its like saying resistance is one of the best fps's ever. No its an excellent game but no.
Halo 3 didn't match up to what halo 1 was though its better than halo 2.

Then again I'm not really a halo fanatic, i jsut loved the first oned and liked the second one. It wasn't even the hype that bothered me becasue i ignore most hype for any game for that matter, and yes it was definetly overhyped. Though i must say at first i hated the halo 3 mountian dew, now its growing on me.

I'm waiting more for Mass Effect on the 360 this year, and bioshock was a surprise to me though i thought it would be good to begin with.

And yeah i find halo 3 multiplayer online very fun, alongside with warhawk. Both those game are awesome online even with their issues. I can't see why people have to hate one and love the other aside if they think one is overrated, becasue then i could see why.

But yeah online is awesome plus i know personally more people with 360s(though i do know people personally that have ps3s, but most of my friends online on the PS3 are from n4g) and some are in college so thats how i communicate with them.

But yeah if anyone wants to play a round of warhawk or halo 3 or maybe even graw 2 on the 360, hit me up.

but I have to say that it can be a very lonely life as an Xbox live player. When MotoGP2 was out I spent nearly 20 hours a week on that game, online. I was in the top 50 on the scoreboards before they reset them. I hardly spoke to my wife, and played until 3 am, played at lunch, played at weekends. I was gutted when they reset the boards, but I was surprised at how much I had been missing because of Xbox Live.

Nowadays I am a bit more mature about online play. I prefer the single player campaigns as my wife likes to watch them as I play, and we can chat whilst I am playing. I can play when I like and do not have to arrange to be online at a certain time, or join a league,or a clan etc. It is more sociable for me than putting a headset on and having conversations with people I don't know and ignoring my wife who is sat right next to me. That is my definition of lonely.

"*****name me 3 AAA exclusive ps3 games coming out next year with multiplayer. or heck even add in some games for this year if itll make you get to 3."

Thats easy: GT5, MGS4, killzone 2. Don't forget Little Big Planet as well. And I am sure there will be a Tekken in there somewhere.

Since when to sales every make a game "the best"...Madden sells tons year after year...and is hardly regarded as the greatest anything...in fact sales are why EA is so huge...not quality...Medal of Honor 1 was regarded as the best WWII fps at the time (I still liked RTWC way more though)...and sold ok...then every sequel, half-assed expansion, thereafter sucked...yet sold more and more each time...

Some people brought up NG Black as one of the best games ever made...research how much that game sold, or the original for that matter...those games are great...yet sold next to nothing on a global scale...

Just pointing out that halo 3 selling tons has nothing to do with how good or bad it is...People were going to buy it no matter what...it has a loyal following...but tons of people buying it doesn't have anything to do with whether it is regarded as the best ever...or merely good...

Halo 3 definitely isn't bad imo...but it also didn't do enough to make me want to get back into it...150 hours worth of Halo 2 back in the day has left me tired of the franchise...I played through it, got the end of the story...played through some online also...and was never in a position where I couldn't get enough of it...like I was with halo 2...and not getting into a debate between Halo 3 and Warhawk, but I prefer the online gameplay of Warhawk anytime over halo 3 now...Warhawk is different...Warhawk brought stuff that can't even be compared to other console games...Even battlefield, which has the scale, has about 1/5 of the simultaneous carnage going on at any one time...thats what I needed to keep the gameplay fun...halo 3 online sticks so closely to the originals that its not worth it to me anymore...the graphics didn't blow me away...the gameplay is identical...it feels more like an expansion to me more than anything...its still cool, and a well polished game...but Bioshock has a better single player...and Warhawk has a better multiplayer...leaving no reason for me to fall back into the Halo craze...

I'm not much into FPS, but I have played Halo and a few others, and I can say for sure its not the best.

Goldeneye is still the gold standard for FPS and one of the great games ever. Halo isn't in the same class.

That's not to say Halo is bad, but its not the wonderful game some make it out to be.
