Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will support DirectX 11

It's official. DICE's upcoming shooter, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will offer DirectX 11 graphics when it debuts this March. Up to this point DICE had considered their DX11 codepath for Bad Company 2 "experimental", but apparently ATI's been working with them and they're now at the point where they can officially offer DX11 graphics when the game debuts early next year.

Originally DICE had showed in a powerpoint slide that Directx11 would be reserved for Frostbite 2.0.

Big thanks to ATI for moving the industry forward. Looks like I have my reason to upgrade.

I was reading through a lot of the DICE developers' Twitter pages and most of them REALLY favour working with PC. Especially that Repi guy. Gordon Van Dyke too.

yeh, the fact that bfbc2 is on pc this time i'd say bf3 is unlikely.

if bfbc2 was just coming to 360/ps3 like bfbc 1 did then i wudda said bf3 2010 would have been a certain. guess we'll just have to wait a little longer

I think BF3 will come out in 1-2 years after BC2. I think DICE wants BC2 to played for a while so they can give out some DLC and make the game last. After BF3 comes out, I don't think anyone will be playing BC2 all that much, unless BF3 is PC exclusive. Battlefield games last a while, 1942, BF2, & 2142 are still played today.

Battlefield 3 will most likely be a PC exclusive. The consoles have never had a real Battlefield game, I doubt they'll get one now.
